What is perseverance?

Perseverance is not giving up and trying to succeed and not letting anything get to you. It is basically just not quitting. People who persevere often succeed in life and are happy because they don't give up or quit.

Description Paragraph

The Lady Jags are a group of embattled girls who went through tough times like drug abuse, mental illnesses, and poverty because of this they were forced to go to Carroll academy and play basketball. The basketball coaches at Carroll Academy helped them persevere to turn their lives back around.Throughout their journey at Carroll Academy the coaches always motivated them through highs and lows. For instance he always told the girls to never give up and persevere even you aren't succeeding as long as you work hard it's worth it. The coaches believed in them a lot also because he knew that they weren't doing good but the coaches still believed in them. The coaches always give them self esteem. One girl had really bad anger issues and one of the coaches wanted to reject her because they didn't want her but the other coach believed in her so let her join. Overall, the Lady Jags are girls who were going through a lot of hardships but their coaches motivated them and helped them persevere and triumph to change their life.

Cause and Effect

Eric LeGrand is an excellent example of resilience. In October of 2010 LeGrand was tackled during the kickoff of at a Rutgers College football game. As a result he was paralyzed from the neck down. Even though he couldn't play football or even walk that didn't stop him from living his life to the fullest. The incident impacted his life a lot. For example he became famous for having a great outlook on life and being positive through hardships. Since he got paralysis that encouraged him for to finish school to become a football radio broadcaster. Influenced by how much money all the equipment was he was inspired to raised money to help find a cure for paralysis. Because of his positive attitude after a tragic accident that inspired people to be optimistic and adaptable. Eric LeGrand was very resilient and positive and because of this it helped him get through very tough times.

Compare and Contrast

Two boys from Cleveland, Ohio, named Dartanyon Crockett and Leroy Sutton were documented in a story on ESPN about their amazing bonding experience. Although their lives were different in some ways, there were quite a few similarities. One thing they had in common was that both of them had a lot of adversities for one, neither of them had parents to raise them. They each grew up without a mom because Leroy’s mom left, and Dartanyon’s mom died. Also they didn't have dads to raise them because, Leroy's dad also left, and Dartanyan’s dad was a drug and alcohol addict. A difference was Dartanyon basically raised himself, but Leroy had his grandparents raise him. Another similarity was, they both had different disabilities. Their disabilities were different however, because Dartanyon was born legally blind, but Leroy got hit by a train on the way to school and lost both of his legs. Aside from this, they were both were born into poverty. They were also both high school wrestlers and bonded over that. Most importantly they both graduated high school. Although they had a lot of similarities one big difference was Dartanyon became a judo paralympian and Leroy became a father to a baby girl. In conclusion, although their lives were different, they bonded because they were also so much alike and they didn't yield or give up.

What can we learn from the perseverance from others in order to overcome adversities in today's world?

In today's world people can learn from them persevering. They could get inspired by all the 5 different stories about people persevering. They wont give up even if they have big adversities.
