Senior Trip

Whould you come with me !?!

As you know, my Mom's family comes from Queretaro, Mexico. This summer I plan to spend the month of July in Queretaro with my family and was hoping to be able to share my culture with you! So, this bulletin is a compliment of information needed to know about a trip to Queretaro. Hopefully it will convince you to come with me on a trip of a lifetime!

Room/ Boarding

During our time in Queretaro we will be staying at my aunt Conchis' house. Its a spacius 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house with an attached apartment suite (2 bedroom 1 bathroom). Our stay here will be free of charge so no need for a hotel.

Trip to Queretaro

Friday, July 1st, 9pm to Sunday, July 31st, 11pm

16 Mariano Escobedo

Santiago de Querétaro, Qro.

This is my Aunt Conchi's house

Food in Mexico is very diverse, so much so that I could write an entire book about all the yummy things we will encounter. Things like tacos, gorditas, elotes, tortas are just some of the many things that we will see daily. I will be taking you around to several of my favorite food spots, and Conchis (who will be coming with us) will help us stay away from any questionable food. If you have a food allergy please let me know ahead of time so that I can kinda pre-plan what foods to stay away from. As far as cost of food, Conchis will help us determine what price is worth what food to ovoid overspending. Other than that all I can really say is that the cost of living is lower than that of the US so food wont be too expensive.

The Mexican currency is Pesos. As of January 6th the exchange rate of pesos to dollars is 17.53, which is very good( for American). It means that for every 1$ you convert you get almost 18 pesos. Here is a good Currency Calculator to see what it is today!

There are several ways to get to Queretaro, but I strongly encourage traveling by plane because it is both faster and safer! I have not yet decided which flight I will take, but I will make sure to let you know as soon as I decide. That way maybe we can get on the same departing flight and I can help you through customs (plus I can have my family drive us instead of catching a cab)

Here is an example of how much a round trip cost (the price will go up as we get closer to summer time)

As im sure your aware crime in Mexico has been in the news lately. And though this trip has its share of risk, as does any trip to a foreign country, I can assure you there is no need to worry! We will be accompanied by Conchis most of the time, and when she is not with us we will be with other members of my family. In other words, we wont be left alone! There will always be someone to steer us clear of more dangerous areas and guide us through the city. If you still feel uneasy I encourage you to check the news and look up crime rates. P.s. Check out this report on crime in Queretaro, I hope it helps!

Phone calls to Mexico can be expensive i suggest using:

  • Facebook messenger
  • Viber (app)
  • Line (app)
  • Snapchat
  • email
  • Skype
  • etc.

These forms of communication are free and only require internet connection, which we will have inside any of my families house and in locations with free wifi.
