Weekly Update
Dear Intermediate Wildcat Families,
Happy Friday!
This week included a lot of learning both inside and outside. Our PE staff has taken advantage of our weather to host their classes outside. We also have been focusing on the environment for Earth Day which includes many new plants growing in our school.
This next week Woodland Intermediate will be celebrating Dia Del Niño! This is a special day for children celebrated in Mexico since 1925 and around the world since 1956. Please join us in celebrating our children with participation in our spirit week. You can access the details using the link below. We would love to have you share photos as well. Please email them to Dr. West at lwest@dist50.net and with your permission we will share them on social media as well as our Foyer television.
We also want to thank you for continuing to remind your scholar about our cell phone policy now that we have students who have returned to in person learning. The policy is included for your reference.
Cellular telephones may be brought to school but must remain in the student’s backpack during regular school hours except with teacher permission. The cell phone must be turned off during this same period of time. Students who have a cellular telephone during school hours may have the phone confiscated by the principal or his/her designee. Parents will be contacted to pick up the phone. The student may be subject to disciplinary action according to School Board Policy and administrative procedures. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen phones.
Safety Reminder: Please be reminded to not send your child to school if they are not feeling well, keep them home from school. Also, keep them home from school if someone at home is sick and awaiting test results for Covid-19. You can contact the attendance line at 847-596-5901 and leave a message. Thank you for your partnership in keeping everyone safe.
Lastly, I want to share with you an update from our Superintendent, Dr. Casey. Please read this update as it includes information about the school fall return, the PTA, and the need for your input. I am including a link for you to access that update.

PTA MEETING
Sign Up Information
We can't believe that our next meeting on May 6th will be our last meeting of this school year! You don't have to be a PTA member to attend or commit to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to connect with our District families and hear firsthand about all of the happenings at our schools.
To register for the meeting, sign up at the following link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4AA4A623ABF9CF8-woodland4. We will send out the Zoom information a few hours before the meeting.

TRANSPORTATION
Please check your child’s bus information by logging in HERE. You will need your Family ID Number which is both the login and password. You can find this in Skyward Family Access under “Student Information”. (View "My Child's Family" and look for "Family ID Number".) If a bus stop change is needed, please fill out the Revised Bus Information form as soon as possible. For further assistance, please call the main Transportation number at 847-856-3644 or email Trans@dist50.net.
PARENT DROP OFF/PARENT PICK UP: For those of you choosing to have your child participate in the parent pick-up, please make note that there is NO entry into our school during arrival and dismissal M-F. You must enter from Hunt Club Rd & Dada. If you are on the Cemetery Roadside, you can turn down Orchard Valley, drive straight to Hunt Club, and turn right to get into the West parking lot. We will have staff available to direct you once you arrive for drop-off and pick up. We will begin parent pick up at 2:55 daily and buses will begin dismissal around 3:15 daily.
MORNING DROP-OFF: For morning drop-off begins at 9:00 am. Please note that we will end parent drop-off at 9:15 each day. If you arrive after 9:15, please park and walk your child to the main entrance door. A staff member will make sure that self-certification has been completed and escort your child to their homeroom classroom.
AFTERNOON EARLY PICK UP: We are requesting that if you need to pick your child up early from school that you notify the office at 847-596-5900 by 2:15 the day of pick up. This will allow us to notify the classroom teacher of the early release. If you call after 2:15 pm, the office will do their best to have your child available but it may take longer to have them meet up with you because of the short notice.

Virtual Recess Continues
We realize that many of our students are struggling socially and emotionally in the virtual learning environment not having the opportunity to see and interact with their friends. So we will continue our virtual recess times for our remote learners during their scheduled recess time. This is a completely optional activity. We want to provide our students the opportunity to get their wiggles and side conversations out in a safe environment. We will be utilizing the Google Meet platform for our Virtual Recess and we will have our Recess Supervisors leading the activities. Homeroom teachers will be sending out the Google Meet codes through Schoology and Seesaw. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Pablo Arboleda at parboleda@dist50.net or Dr. Tim Tyrell at ttyrell@dist50.net. You can also reach out to your child's teacher.
