Kindness Counts!
This month, Live Oak will participate in Random Acts of Kindness Week from February 15-19. Students will be encouraged to brainstorm ideas of kind things they can do for others at home or school, and then to complete their "missions". We want to spread kindness throughout our school community!
Classroom Guidance Preview
To support our message of Random Acts of Kindness, this month we are using our classroom guidance time to ask students to think about how their words and actions - both positive and negative - affect others. We are reading The Kindness Quilt by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace with the younger grades, and Kindness Is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler by Margery Cuyler with the older grades. At the end of each lesson, we are introducing our schoolwide mission to complete random acts of kindness, and asking students to spend a few minutes reflecting on what they will do for others.
5th Grade Transition to Middle School
Our fifth grade classes will visit Deerpark Middle School on Tuesday, February 9. The students will be welcomed by the principal and counselors, see a presentation by the fine arts classes, and eat lunch in the middle school cafeteria. Please make sure you return your child's permission slip A.S.A.P. Look for elective choice sheets coming home in the next few weeks. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Live Oak counselors!
