Weekly Bulletin - Week of Sept. 7th

Back to School Night

Please make sure that you are prepared for Back to School Night this Thursday. You should have copies of any newsletters, standards for the year, or other items that you want to give out to parents. If possible, make sure they are bilingual. Dress code is a bit dressier than a regular school day - mass attire would be appropriate. Also, make sure that you arrive at the school no later than 5:45 pm. We will start at 6 pm in the auditorium. As soon as we introduce you, I will let you head back to your rooms to get ready for the event. There will be 3 sessions so that all parents can attend an event for each child. This is an ADULTS ONLY event. Please make sure to communicate this to your families.

Curriculum Resources

We have an abundance of resources for curriculum this year (thanks, Stephanie!). You have the following at your disposal:

  • Reading A - Z/RAZ Kids for online Spanish/English books
  • FOSS kits for interactive Science lessons
  • Scholastic Magazines (hard copy and online - Spanish and English)
  • IXL online Math site
  • Senderos/Journeys (hard copy and online through Houghton Mifflin)
  • Math in Focus (hard copy and online through Houghton Mifflin)

It is important that we are using these resources, as well as the textbooks, to address all standards for your grade level. Remember, the textbooks, FOSS kits, and online resources are ways to address your standards. They are the curriculum...the textbooks are not. If you are having trouble accessing any of the online sites, let me know and we will get you set up.

Common Core Standards

As you prepare your lessons and talk with parents (and students) about the plan for the year, please make sure that you are comfortable with the Common Core Standards. This is what we are using, in conjunction with additional Archdiocesan Religion Standards. Here is some useful information:

AESOP Online Substitute System

Please review information at the following site:

This new system will allow us to schedule/request subs online and we are REQUIRED to use it for all building subs. You can identify any preferred subs. If you know of anyone who would like to be added to the Arch sub list, please email their name to me so that we can include them in the system.
