Meals Program in full-swing

We have been approved to provide breakfast and lunch for ALL students 18 and under, free of charge.* Families need to sign up for meals through RenWeb preferably the night before so we prepare an accurate number of meals (click here for directions); labeled meals will be on a cart outside of the main entrance of the school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM. There is no menu for these grab-and-go meals - think of it as a fun surprise! The contact for meal provision is Heather Gentle, and she can be reached at 888-4758 ext. 235 or at hgentle@bjams.org.

Just in case a family forgets to pre-order, we will have a few extra meals prepared. Please know that families may participate in the meals program of any of their local schools, no questions asked, if traveling to BJAMS is not feasible. Please contact your local district, as their pick-up schedule may differ from ours.

Helping Local Senior Citizens and Families in Need

Blessed Sacrament Church in Stowe is organizing an outreach program to help senior citizens who may not have access to groceries, medications, other essentials, and really - anything else they may need. Included in their list of parishioners, are those senior citizens from Most Holy Name in Morrisville. In this spirit, do you know a senior who may need helping hand? Are you a BJAMS family who also might need a helping hand?

Please email Mrs. Morrison or Mrs. Wilson with the details so those in need can be included in this outreach program.

Distance Learning Plan

The directive for a school-wide dismissal was determined by the Vermont Department of Health, the Agency of Education, and the Diocese of Burlington, and as of today, remains in effect through April 15th.

BJAMS has rolled out its plans for distance learning for students in grades K-8. We expect there may be some glitches and hiccups, and we'll work through them together as they arise.

We shared a step-by-step guide for parents on how to access online learning through Google Classroom (via email and hard copy), and we began working with students at that time as well. The large bins set up by teachers out front have already been utilized, and they remain in place for as long as is necessary for the exchange of classwork during this dismissal period.

The official start date for distance learning was yesterday, March 19. Going forward, all daily assignments will be posted by 8:00 AM each day. Please email your child's teachers with questions, and be on the lookout for details and updates from them as well.

Please note: teachers will be recording grades; distance learning is not optional.

This is a first for everyone (parents, students, and teachers), but we're confident if we stay focused, yet flexible, and communicate effectively, then we will all be successful in our distance learning!

The school office will be open for essential staff only Monday - Thursday from 9:00-1:00. Please email Mrs. Wilson and/or Mrs. Morrison if you need to retrieve something from the school.

Illness and Prevention - COVID-19

Many of the precautions that help prevent other respiratory diseases, also help keep an illness like COVID-19 from spreading:

• Frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with 60% or higher alcohol content.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick - the VT Dept. of Health recommends maintaining a distance of 6 feet from sick individuals.

• Stay home (and keep your children home) when sick.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with your sleeve or a tissue and dispose of it in the trash.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

The most up-to-date info on COVID-19, please visit the Vermont Department of Health website.

The Art of BASH - stay tuned

We will soon host an online auction for The Art of BASH, rather than gathering at the River Arts building, allowing for a successful event while doing our part to promote wellness. We will share the auction details as the date draws nearer. Thank you for your continued support of BJAMS!
