THEORY of ACTION
Team Gompers
We can all agree that It's been a very interesting school year! We worked through a lot this school year....with a new administrator we challenged us to Gooooo Green, who would ever have thought those traits of GRIT, RESPONSIBILITY, EXPECTATIONS, ETHICS and NEIGHBORLY would lay the foundation for the unprecedented events to come in 2020. We have a national pandemic still unfolding that has shut down the world, closed our schools, sent students on online learning in less than 48 hours, and most recently watched numerous protests on tv and in our communities. We have had to mentally support our students during these troubled times, downsized our classrooms for the unknown, experienced anxiety about the upcoming school year, braced for a budget crisis, and dealt with our own personal issues. Unbelievable, but we trudged through and we made it to the end of the school year. #Team Gompers is still standing!
During these times, I am reminded of Nelson Mandela''s quote "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” As an educator, I am encouraged to know that we will continue to work together to get through these troubled times. In the end, our team will become stronger, better, and wiser. Thank you for pulling together, working collaboratively, and supporting one another. We truly appreciate your hard work and dedication to our students this school year. Enjoy the summer with family and loved ones.
Respectfully proud to stand alongside you,
Dr. Miller
Once a Gator, Always a Gator! Continued blessings on your new educational journey!

Last Staff Meeting for the Year - Onsite - "Social Distanced" in the Auditorium @ 10:00
End of Year Staff Meeting
We will meet for our final staff meeting of the year at 10am on Friday, June 12th. This will be a time to celebrate our growth and teamwork and collaboratively reflect on the year.
Spring 2020 Feedback to Students on Learning Progress
- The Student Academic Summary (SAS) now has a dropdown list and teachers can choose to use the Summative form for end of year student feedback. The Research Office will be providing a way for teachers to publish their completed Student Academic Summary documents for parents to see in ParentVUE. Within the Student Academic Summary application in LROIX there will be a new button labeled ‘Class PVUE’ that will publish a PDF for each student in the class and make it available in the PVUE accounts associated with that student. This feature is now available. See screenshot
MS - Student Feedback:
Secondary teachers can begin entering final grades in School Loop on June 1st and should do the following by June 8th:
- Enter P/NP grades (Grades 6-8)
- See screenshot for entering grades
- Make certain students who were passing on 3/13 do not receive a grade of NP
- LROIX Report 1142 is available for teachers to identify students who were passing on 3/13.
- As a reminder, teachers students who were passing on 3/13, but are currently showing a failing grade. In cases where grades that a teacher submitted do not follow the LBUSD guidelines, the grades will be audited and updated centrally after grading closes.
Preparing Classrooms
Walkthrough with Facilities and updates for Fall prepping of rooms:
As you know, I walked the building to classrooms last Friday. Unfortunately, I was not provided with a "Checklist" but considerations regarding spacing related to Social Distancing.
1. Each room already has a maximum number of students that can occupy based on the square footage. Most of our room's maximums are 15 & 16. The permanent buildings can allow for up to 3 additional students if the stationary shelf is used for student seating.
2. Student tables take up more space than a desk and do not allow for the maximum capacity. Kidney tables will need to to be removed to support student occupants.
3. In permanent classrooms, the "very top" space above the cabinets is ok for now. However, LBUSD not sure if Fire Marshalls will come to inspect cluttered areas.
4. In all rooms, bookshelves need to be flushed to one wall. Yes, This is going to be a humungous task...I am sorry. The shelves take up space and do not allow for maximum student spacing.
5. In all rooms, the gray standing cabinets, need to be on the same wall as the bookshelves. This is going to be a humungous task..I am sorry. The shelves take up space and do not allow for maximum student spacing.
6. Teacher desk areas: some teachers have two or three work station areas that are taking up, student occupancy possibilities. Really look at how you can condense these areas, as the main component will be the teacher projector and where it faces for student view and student occupancy.
7. There will most likely be no empty rooms in an effort to support occupancy, and there will be some room changes to support maximum occupancy as well (I will communicate with these teachers in a separate message).
8. I highly suggest, you purge, purge purge. For example, if you walked into a classroom and you opened up the cabinets(even if it was 5 years ago or this year), and it was full of stuff...don't even look just through it...just please discard.
9. Summer Cleanup will begin, the custodial crew will have a very limited amount of time and a ton of work to do. Therefore, no teachers on-site on June 19. If you need to access the site, please email me or our new plant supervisor: Ericson Santos.
Lastly, **If you want me to walk your classroom, please email me to support "items" that may need to leave your classroom to support space/occupancy***
I know, I know.....we will get through it.....take deep breathes!!
