No Fossil Fuels

fossil fuel damage our planet

Many of the environmental problems the world faces today – including climate change, air pollution, oil spills, and acid rain – result from our dependence on fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels produces heat-trapping gases that are the main cause of the ongoing rise in global atmospheric temperatures.

Coal, natural gas, and crude oil are also forms of natural gas

Reasons Why

- Fossil fuels are not green sources of energy. Powering plants, factories your home or car with fossil fuels leads to the release of high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2).

- Fossil fuels are nonrenewable energy sources. This means there is finite supply.

- Fossil fuels are housed deep within the earth’s surface.

- Global warming is largely attributed to our reliance on fossil fuels. What is global warming? According to the experts and JustGreen, global warming is defined as “…the increase of Earth’s average surface temperature due to the effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth.”

- The mining of fossil fuels is harmful to the environment, destroying habitats and scarring the landscape of our planet.

- Liquid runoff from coal and oil production pollutes our water supply, both above and below ground.

I won't lie

As fossil fuels are a mature commodity and do not require new technology or extensive research, they are less expensive than other sources of energy.

- The transportation of fossil fuels is relatively simple and cost efficient because they can be easily carried from one place to another. They’re also easily converted to a liquid, solid or gas.

- Fossil fuels generate employment for millions of people who work in the mining and oil industries and other businesses related to the production and transportation of fossil fuels.

- Aside from energy, the production of fossil fuels creates useful byproducts – like plastics – used in everything from computers and appliances to hospital equipment and storage containers.
