Netflix Documentaries

Check out this LIST of documentaries available on YouTube by Netflix. Remember, showing these documentaries should be related to your curriculum to fall under Fair Use.

For many years, Netflix has allowed teachers to screen documentaries in their classrooms: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/57695

However, this isn’t possible with schools closed. So at their request, we [Netflix] have made a selection of our documentary features and series available on our YouTube channel. If you are a parent or teacher, please check the ratings so that you can make informed choices for your students and children. For more information and to download accompanying educational resources please visit the Netflix Company Blog: https://media.netflix.com/en/company-...

Library Canvas Course

All students have been given access to the library's Canvas course. Students can find links to both the Concierge and Curbside Services, our Read Woke challenge, the Destiny catalog, our TexQuest resources, Sora, the JISD Book Club, our VMHS library website, and "Ask the Librarian." If a student needs help enrolling in the course, please send me their name. If you would like to be added, please let me know.

Literacy Lounge

Battle of the Books

This month, Library Services began the Re-Imagined Battle of the Books for our sixth-grade students. These students would have had the opportunity to participate in April, during their 5th-grade year, if not for the pandemic. The Re-Imagined Battle has the same questions but now it is an individual competition, rather than team-based, on Kahoot! There are 3 rounds, and we have completed Round 1. Our own Jesseca Baggots' son, Kaleb Neb, is currently doing quite well. He will be moving on to Round 2. The winner will be announced the week before Thanksgiving Break, so look out for the final results in next month's newsletter! Congratulations Kaleb & Mrs. Baggot!

Patriot Page-Turner

We will be featuring VMHS faculty readers each month. These readers will have the honorous title of "Page Turners." We will feature their picture along with the books that they have read and recommended for our Patriots, so we would like for the books to be available in our library or the Sora collection.

Our first Page-Turner is Mrs. Borrego! She is an avid reader, and she has embraced our Read Woke challenge! See her book list below and at the table in the library windows. Thank you, Mrs. Borrego!

We are looking for Page-Turners for 2021, so If you would like to be our next Page-Turner, please contact Mrs. Thompson or Mrs. Constantino.

Thank you to Mr. Eller for our alliterate name!
