What's Happening ?? !!

~ Hawley School Newsletter: December 7, 2019 ~

From the Desk of Mr. Moretti

Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Staff and Teachers,

In December, we will be focusing on acts of kindness, love, gratitude and service to others.

Buckle up, keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, and stay seated as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .......

~ Be the "i" in KIND ~

We are always on the look out for staff and students performing extraordinary acts of kindness that just stand out and need to be recognized. We have recently had students helping any student that needs help without being asked, making extra crafts for gifts for those that did not have one, finding and returning lost items, playing with someone who was alone, and helping all students that need assistance, etc. What a KIND school.

Here's a few we caught and we'll keep looking!!!

~ 4th Grade School Concert ~

Our 4th Graders recently performed for the school. Their evening Winter Concert for parents is Monday, 12/9, 7:00 PM, Hawley Gym.

~ The Kindness Cart ~

Every classroom will receive a copy of and will be reading the book The Word Collector by Peter Reynolds. Using the Hawley Kindness Cart, children will become Word Collectors. They will search out words that have a positive affect on them and submit them. These words will be on display throughout the school. Students will also enjoy some hot cocoa while writing about how to make the world a better place.

PJ Day Kindness Fundraiser

As mentioned, December at Hawley is all about acts of kindness. There is a state-wide fundraiser that we are participating in. It is PJ Day for the Kids. This is an opportunity for students, families, and staff across the state to show support for patients at Connecticut Children’s Hospital.

On Friday, 12/13, we will have a Pajama Spirit Day. We ask that those wanting to participate, donate at least $1.00 to support Connecticut Children's Hospital. You can either send in the money that day or donate to Team "Hawley School" online. Click here for the online donation link.

Thank you for your support.
