Dear Tiger Nation,

It has been a great start to the new school year. Thank you to all our parents/guardians that attended Back to School Night last Tuesday, August 23rd. If you were not able to join us you can access our Welcome Back Video from the school web page.

The building was a buzz with Kindergarten Orientation and Open House on Wednesday, August 24. It was great to see all our students and families excited to visit the classrooms.

The first two days of school have been amazing! The staff and students are getting into the routine of schedules and expectations.

Please remember that this week and next week are short weeks. Friday, September 2 & Monday, September 5 there is no school.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Ewing, Principal

Bus Stop Finder App

Stopfinder is a secure app that provides parents and caregivers with accurate bus location and messages, updates and alerts in real-time. Stopfinder is the easy to use parent engagement app. Know where your child’s bus is and have the most accurate information about your child’s bus schedule in the palm of your hand. Set-up GeoAlert zones to know when your child's bus is arriving at the stop and the school. Learn more on the LCPS Stopfinder site and watch the demonstration video below.

Online Meal Payment

Loudoun County Public Schools will replace MySchoolBucks with a new meal payment system, called TITAN Family Portal, for the 2022-23 school year. Similar to MySchoolBucks, this new meal payment system allows students to put money on an account to purchase school meals or other food items in our school cafeteria. Get started early and register before school starts on Thursday, August 25. It’s easy.

  1. Register: Register at family.titank12.com by clicking on “Sign up today!”
  2. Confirm Email: Confirm your email address by clicking on the email verification link sent to your email address.
  3. Sign In: Now you can sign in at family.titank12.com using your email and password.

Any balance left on a student’s cafeteria account from the old system will transfer to the new system automatically. Within this new meal payment system, you will be able to transfer funds between student accounts.

Allergy and food intolerance information will transfer to the new system. If there is any change to your student’s allergy and/or food intolerance information, you should enter it into ParentVue and contact Mrs. Margot Doucette, Health Clinic Specialist.

If you have any questions, please review our FAQs (FAQs in Spanish) or reach out to our School Nutrition Services office at CAFE@LCPS.org.

New School Hours for 2022-2023

Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, Loudoun County Public Schools is adjusting school schedules to increase the reliability and safety of transporting students and on-time arrival, ensuring students receive the maximum classroom instruction. Making these schedule changes will also address a bus driver shortage and will result in fewer delays and a more reliable schedule for students and their families. School hours for Ball's Bluff Elementary School beginning August 2022 are as follows:

Doors Open: 7:40 AM

School Starts: 8:00 AM

School Ends: 2:45 PM

Students should be in their classrooms before the 8:00 am bell. Once the bell rings to start the day students are considered tardy.

Kiss and Go Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders

7:40 - 8:00 is student drop off time.

Students should be in class before 8:00 am. If they arrive after the 8:00 am bell and are not in their classroom they will be considered tardy.

Arrival Drop Off:

Drivers should remain in their cars as students get out of the vehicles on the side closest to the sidewalk. Please do not let students out of vehicles on the driver side. Also students should not be dropped off until your vehicle is along the sidewalk directly in front of the school. Please pull up following the staff giving directions. We want to work together to get out as many students as we can safely, while keeping the traffic moving.

If you need to assist your child(ren) or they cannot be let out on the passenger side you will need to park and walk to the crosswalk area. You will need to wait with your child(ren) until a staff member can direct them across the street safely. No student should be dropped off at the crosswalk area without an adult. This is to ensure their safety until they can be supervised by a staff member to cross over.

2:45 - 3:00 is students pick up time.

End of the Day Dismissal Pick Up:

Please display the bright orange sign as you drive into the school parking lot. Staff read the signs to call students to come outside. Please follow the directions given by staff so we can get as many students we can safely to come out to be picked up. If you need one or more orange signs we have then available. You can ask the teacher to send one home or stop by the office and we can bring one out to you.

Walkers

This year we will return to allowing students that go up the hill along Battlefield Parkway to exit from the 4th grade exit doors. All other walkers should exit out the doors closest to the Music Room.

Also there should not be any dogs on the school property at arrivals, dismissals, or during the school day.
