Finneytown Local School District
Community Update 11.2.2020
Our mission is to foster academic and social growth for each student in a safe, supportive school environment.
Our vision is to be a learning community that inspires our students and staff to think critically, grow intellectually, and live with integrity.
Superintendent's Corner
Dear Finneytown Families,
Starting today, all Flex Campus students will be able to come to the buildings in the mornings! We are so happy to get students back in the buildings. To be clear, all Virtual Campus students will continue to learn remotely.
- Wear your masks when out in the community and try to stay healthy. Let’s do all we can to keep our school buildings open.
- Students and staff must wear masks, social distance, wash/sanitize hands, and follow instructions to help us keep everyone safe. Everyone must monitor to be sure they do not have a fever or any symptoms. If you are sick, please stay home. If you have been exposed to COVID, please stay home. In either case, please contact the school to let us know why you are absent.
- Don’t forget that meals can be picked up on Tuesdays. Any Finneytown student can get 7 days of lunch and breakfast free each week. Please see the flyer in this newsletter for more details.
- Also, if you have not yet submitted a free or reduced lunch application, please do that ASAP. Even though meals are free to all students, those applications count for many other things. The state uses the percentage of those who qualify for many other funding sources and reports that have an impact on the district. The information on how to apply is also on that flyer. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or help with the process.
Have a great week and know how excited I am that our Flex students are back in-person!
Respectfully,
Superintendent Noe

Ohio Department of Education Special Education Family Survey
Finneytown Local School District has been selected to participate in this year’s family survey for students with individualized education programs (IEPs). This annual survey provides important information that can further inform family engagement efforts by schools, districts, state support teams, and the Ohio Department of Education.
The survey collection period will be open from October 1 through November 30.
Below (and attached) is the letter from ODE.
Dear Parent or Guardian, The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) would like to invite you to participate in a short, 25 question survey about your involvement in your student’s education. Research suggests that parental involvement is a key predictor of positive educational outcomes. You may be eligible to participate if your child has an IEP and receives special education services. The purpose of collecting this information is to improve services for students with disabilities across Ohio. If you are eligible to participate and you enroll in the study, you will be entered in a drawing for several $50 Amazon gift cards. Your chance of winning a gift card is approximately 2.0%. Please click on this link https://osu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8xj6a3rJ8hUevNH or use the QR (Quick Response) code (see below) to find out more about the survey and if you are eligible. Sincerely, David Julian, Ph.D. Special Education Family Survey Director (Collecting surveys on behalf of the Ohio Department of Education)
Tech Problems
Attached is the school lunch/breakfast distribution plan for the 2nd quarter. It is the same as the 1st quarter. We would love to see more families take advantage of the weekly distribution of 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches. Food is distributed at the secondary campus every Tuesday at 11:30 am - 1:00 pm and 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. We often have extras, such as La Soupe, bagels, and this week, coupons for a free meal at McDonald's. If parents have any questions, they may contact our district social worker, Mrs. Cathy McNair at cmcnair@finneytown.org.
