Fall Semester Winding Down
Greetings TLC Families.
Believe it or not, the Fall semester is winding down. We have around six weeks left to go until the end of the semester and this includes the shortened Thanksgiving week. Please make sure you have access to Canvas, EOS, and Infinite Campus, so you can support your student behaviorally and academically. If you need assistance or have questions, please access our school website or call the school @ 381-0597.
We will be calling and emailing any guardians whose student is under contract review, due to failing grades (more than 3), absences (12 or more), and discipline referrals (3 or more). Please review the TLC Contract for more details. With the help of each student's Advisor, we will create and monitor a plan with specific goals designed to improve student achievement.
If you or anyone else you know is interested in volunteering and partnering with TLC, please review the following website and fill out a volunteer application: FCPS Volunteer Information
Freshman parents, you have been sent an email asking you to fill out a permission slip to the annual FCPS Career Expo at the Central Bank Center on December 5th. This is a great event for students to explore their career interests and transportation is provided. Please make sure you fill out and submit the permission slip as soon as possible.
All guardians, please mark your calendar for November 16th. We will have academic parent conferences in person at TLC from 5:00-6:00 and on Zoom from 6:00-7:00. We will release more details as we get closer to the date.
Finally, please take the time to nominate a staff member that made a difference for your student(s):
TLC November Staff Member of the Month

TLC School Improvement Update
ATTENDANCE--We want every student to have a minimum of 85% attendance for the entire school year.
ACADEMIC GROWTH--We want every student to meet or exceed their MAP Reading and Math Growth Goal
LIFE READINESS--We want every student to meet the requirement for post secondary readiness according to the Kentucky Department of Education.
Attendance Please continue to encourage your students to attend school regularly. We know that attendance is directly correlated with student achievement. For November we will have an attendance challenge for both students and staff. The grade level (staff and students) with the highest attendance percentage will be rewarded with a pizza and ice cream party. How can you help? 1. Make sure excuse notes are returned with three days of your students return to school. 2. Refer your student for mental health services if that is affecting their attendance: Counseling Consent Form 3. Help your student create healthy habits with regards to diet, sleep, and exercise. 4. Schedule appointments on days in which school is not in session. Here is the FCPS calendar. | Academic Growth As we near the end of the semester, please make sure you are having conversations with your student about their grades. We are entering our final six weeks of the semester and it is important that students focus and finish strong. Remember our goal at TLC is for all of our students demonstrate growth with regards to Reading and Math based on their MAP scores. All of their classes help them move closer to this goal. How can you help?
| Life Readiness The most important focus for all of the TLC community is to ensure that all of our students graduate "life ready." In the month of November, we have three Working Wednesdays on November 1st, 15th, and 29th. We have several trips planned in the community and several guests visiting TLC as well. In addition, all of our Freshman will be attending the Career Expo on December 5th. There are so many opportunities for our students to engage with the surrounding community in order to become "life ready." How can you help?
