Diet During Pregnancy
A pregnant women should follow a nutritious diet consisting of a variety of foods. She should build the diet around the Food Guide Pyramid. Adding two servings from the grains group, one serving of fruit, and one serving of veggies will provide many needed nutrients. *AVOID DRUGS DURING PREGNANCY!!!!*
Diet During Lactation
During lactation, a women has increased energy, protein, mineral, and vitamin needs. The woman needs these extra nutrients to replace the nutrients secreted in the milk. The lactating woman's needs for some nutrients are greater. Locating women should be sure to get the recommended number of servings from the Food Guide Pyramid each day. They should also consume at least 2 or 3 quarts of fluid each day. *AVOID DRUGS DURING LACTATION!!!!*
