Tonya Middling - Principal
Kristin Hillius - Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Families,
Wow! It's already Spring Break time! Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can have some sunny days while we are out of school next week.
As we start our planning for next year, we want to invite our school families to join us in collaborative conversations around our work related to our move to our new facility next winter, social justice, improved instruction and family/school partnerships. There are a lot of ways to be involved even in this current virtual environment. If you would like to be involved in our planning processes, please contact me at tmiddling@fpschools.org.
Enjoy this next week off!
It's great to be a Wildcat!
~Mrs. Middling

2021-2022 Enrollment
We are currently registering new kindergarten through grade 5 students who live within our attendance boundaries or have daycare in our area. If you live outside of the Franklin Pierce Schools boundaries, and attend Central Avenue because of daycare, a district waiver form is needed from your home resident school district. Current students are automatically enrolled for next year. Enrollees must provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence. To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be five years of age by August 31, 2021. On-line registration is available on the district website. Click on the "Enroll for 2021-2022" button, and follow the steps.
Dual Language Immersion Program
During the 2021-2022 school year, Franklin Pierce School District will be offering a Spanish Dual Language Immersion program at Harvard Elementary. This learning option is committed to student growth towards bilingualism and literacy from kindergarten through fifth grade with the ultimate goal being Spanish and English language proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking within all academic content areas. Please find an informational flyer below and an application to fill out if interested. Once the application has been completed, please email harvard@fpschools.org. If you have any questions about the program, please call Harvard Elementary at 253-298-4100.
Health Survey
***During spring break the distribution of health survey emails and texts will continue to be sent. Parent/guardians and staff not expected onsite over break can disregard the survey during this time. If you would like to stop receiving texts over break, when completing the survey on the last day you are onsite before break, opt out of receiving text messages by unchecking the box on the text opt-in survey question. By unchecking the box you will still receive emails, but not texts.
To re-enable the text messages, you must opt back in by checking the box again from the survey email. If you reply STOP to the text message, you will be removed from the survey distribution list entirely- emails & texts will stop. If this occurs, we need to submit an IT work order with the student’s information to be added back to the health survey distribution.
District COVID Dashboard
As we continue to welcome students and staff back for in-person instruction, we are committed to keeping our community informed of positive COVID cases impacting schools and district facilities, while protecting the privacy of individuals. Health and safety measures are enforced as we return additional students onsite.
Please visit our new COVID-19 data dashboard regarding district data positive COVID-19 cases and quarantines.

Parent Drop off/Pickup
We have a higher volume of cars dropping off and picking up students this year. In order to help everyone navigate our car zone safely, please remember these guidelines:
- Please pull all the way in to the end of the zone or pull up to the car in front of you. Do not leave big gaps.
- Please stay in your car, unless you are assisting with a car seat or helping your young child onto the sidewalk.
- Please watch your speed in the parking area.
- Please do not have a long conversation with your child's teacher. Of course, we know you want to connect, but please email or call so that our line can keep moving.
- On Bingham, please loop around down Bingham, as to not block 128th St traffic
- On Bingham, please try not to block resident driveways
Thank you for your understanding during this time. We are doing all what we can to help ensure safety and we appreciate your help!
