First Week of School

Dear Sehome Families,

Wow! What an incredible first week of school we had. Thank you to all of you who came in and volunteered your time to help ensure a smooth start to the year. We had parents, former students, and members of our district executive team who all showed up to help wherever was needed. It was greatly appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering for future needs here at Sehome, please add your name to our PTSA volunteer list at

We had our first few meals from the Central Kitchen. Staff and students are enjoying the new options and building community over delicious food. Just a reminder that the prices of meals has changed for this school year.

Breakfast $1.75, Lunch $3.25

Free/Reduced Prices:

Breakfast Free, Lunch $0.40

A reminder that we accept free and reduced meals applications throughout the school year. The 2019-20 application is available online or can be found in the back of the Family Handbook and Calendar that was mailed to families in August. Families only need to fill out one application for all children in a household.

This week, devices will be deployed to 10th-12th graders on Tuesday in their Anchor classes from last year. 9th grade students will receive their devices during Anchor starting on Wednesday and wrapping up with our final Anchor classes on Friday.

Below you will see a few of the many highlights from our first week together. There are many more to share. Thank you to those who reached out with celebrations as well as areas where we can continue to improve. We appreciate continuing to learn from each of you about how we are doing. Have a great long weekend!

Highlights from This Week

Student Pick Up & Drop Off/ Parking

  • Coming out of the pick-up/drop-off area, you will only be able to make a right turn only onto Bill McDonald Parkway. We will continue to block the left turn lane when leaving the middle exit of the parking lot to help ensure that traffic can continue to flow. If you need to make a left turn out of the parking lot, please use the western-most exit.

  • For student pick up and drop off, please proceed through the fire lane and go as far up as possible on the lane parallel to the bus loop to accommodate as many cars as possible. Students can then be dropped off or picked up in this area. Please do not have students exit or enter the vehicle while in the fire lane.

  • All students and staff members need a parking permit. They are free and can be acquired with Cathy Moran in our ASB office starting on Wednesday. Parking is on a first-come first-serve basis. Visitors are welcome to park in any open parking spaces. Please be respectful of our handicapped parking spaces and the community members who require access to these spots. Handicap parking spots should not, under any circumstance, be used as short term or visitor parking without proper handicap placards.
