The 3Cs Connection
Student & Parent Newsletter for CCC - October 2022
Fall in love with CCC
Hello Cyclone families,
Our school year has started off strong. The A-team spent time with all our students during our behavioral expectations assembly and know our students will continue to RISE to the challenges placed in front of them. Please continue to reach out to our faculty and administration with questions and concerns.
We are excited to start the school year with a celebration! Congratulations to our Chesapeake Career Center Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Joy Speelman. Please read more about her in the newsletter.
Each month The 3Cs Connection will focus on a department or program in our school. This month the spotlight is on our Trades Department. Read through the newsletter to meet the faculty members and see what makes us proud to be CCC.

Congratulations to Mrs. Joy Speelman, CCC's Teacher of the Year
Mrs. Speelman is a homegrown product of Chesapeake Public Schools. She is a graduate of Indian River High School and Old Dominion University. Mrs. Speelman is in her 38th year in education and her 36th year with Chesapeake Public Schools. She served as a Marketing Education Coordinator at Indian River High School before becoming our Workforce Development Coordinator. This is the second time Mrs. Speelman has been named Teacher of the Year. She was Indian River High School’s Teacher of the Year in 2012.
According to her colleague, our TOY “always has her heart in the right state of mind for our kids. She does so much for all of our programs.” According to another, Mrs. Speelman “has a servant’s heart and goes above and beyond to help everyone at CCC. Mrs. Speelman truly models the Spirit of the Cyclone with her enthusiasm for Career and technical education, her willingness to work with all people and her involvement in numerous activities.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Speelman!

CCC Student Drop Off and Dismissal
For the safety of our students, please follow CCC's procedures for student drop off. Parents, you are not allowed on our bus lane to drop off students and must enter our property at the 2nd entrance closest to the shopping center by the Village Inn Sign. The student drop off area is located by the picnic pavilion. At 9:10 am/12:45 pm, students will be allowed to enter the side door. Any student who is dropped off before 9:10 am/12:45 pm needs to wait outside of the side door or walk around to the front door and wait in the multipurpose center.
At dismissal, ALL cars exit to the back of our property past Cedar Road Elementary to Elementary Road. Drivers will need to turn left or right to make their way back to a light at Cedar Road. No cars will be allowed to turn left coming out of our parking lot during dismissal. This is for the safety of all of our students and drivers. Thank you for working with us to keep all our students safe.
