This Week
We dived right into Veteran's Day and had some amazing class discussions on what it means to be brave and patriotic. Thank you to all those who sent in stars so that we could honor the Veterans we love in Room 39!
In Math we continued to review subtraction, specifically using a number line to help us solve equations. We worked on counting and representing numbers higher than 20, 30, 40, and 50.
In Reading, we worked a lot with our thematic unit of Veteran's and being thankful this week. We've been using a lot of nonfiction texts to help us discover facts about both topics. It was also fun to have Miss Baker lead a lesson this week about being thankful! We're also finishing up our owl unit and will get to bring home our owl books today!

A little change never hurt anyone...
We switched things up in our classroom, maybe you've heard? We changed tables around and we now have some tables at different heights. With this, students now get to choose their seats every morning. No more assigned seats.
I've simply learned that a lot of our friends don't want to sit in a chair when working. So, we're trying something new. One table is low to the ground, students who choose this table sit on the floor. Another table is high, students who choose this table stand. The other three tables remain the same height and with chairs all around. But at these tables students can choose to kneel, stand, or use the chair.
We started choosing our own seats on Wednesday. Students know that if Miss Colsten observes it is not a "just right" seat for them, I can ask them to move and I may choose their seat for them. So far, so good! Students are really enjoying the change. This is new, even for me, so I'm sure adjustments are in the future. If needed, we will simply make changes as we go!
