New electives course request system in January 2015

7th grade parents will be using their Portal accounts to select their students elective for 8th grade. Ms. Ruzick will be be giving all 7th graders this information on Thursday, January 29 in students' electives classes. If your student does not currently have an elective, she will check in with them on an individual basis.

KJHS did a great job with the intruder alert this week!

There was an intruder on campus Wednesday, Janaury 21 around 10:45am. He was quickly escorted to the blacktop and was held there while Petaluma Police responded. The adult was taken into custody by the police. There was an intruder alert called by Ms. Dunnagan to ensure the safety of the students. The situation was wrapped up quickly and students were able to go to lunch and classes without an issue. The students did a great job following directions in this emergency.

Track meeting this Friday at Lunch in the Gym.

There will be a meeting for all athletes interested in track. We will meet at lunch in the gym. A calendar will be handed out along with other information. If you have filled out a sports packet, that needs to be done before practice starts in February. Come to the meeting and get your questions answered. You may also see coach Bradley in room 15, he loves talking about track almost as much as he does talking about science. Check out the Track website here.

Blackout day is Janaury 30

BLACKOUT DAY has made it to Kenilworth...January 30th Leadership wants to see how many students and staff can dress in all black. Prepare for some fun at lunch on the 30th with the Blindfold Hunt game in front of the Multi! See you there!

Souls for Souls fundraiser!

Great job donating shoes so far for Souls for Souls. We have 12 pairs. We will continue to collect through Jan. 30th. Bring gently used shoes to room 35. Thanks!

Teens for Jeans

The number one request of homeless teens is to own their own pair of jeans. Please join the KJHS drive to collect as many jeans as we can by Feb. 18th! Please bring gently used jeans to room 35. Thanks!

New furniture for all KJHS classrooms

Thank you to the Petaluma community, the Petaluma City Schools bond passed in June 2014. The first thing this allowed us to do was pilot chromebooks with the 8th graders. Next year, all students, 7th and 8th grader will have a chromebook.

The next step is new furniture for the classrooms. Most of the furniture at KJHS came from the old Kenilworth and some of you may have used it when you were a student here. Currently, we are piloting some different furniture to see what works for our classrooms. Mrs. Crozier received the first set on new furniture to test with her students before the break. She is experimenting and giving it a good test with her students.
