Parent Communication
September 2023
Principal
We are wrapping up our first quarter and we have been making a lot of positive growth in different areas across campus. The most important growth we have been working on is student achievement in the classroom. Our students have been learning procedures and routines for learning. We have been talking about personal responsibility a lot with our students and a new standard of behavior and performance is being installed at Hollinger. We thank everyone for your support and communication.
Our students also have recently been completing district benchmark exams which will give teachers data to address students' learning needs more accurately. This will help teachers to differentiate learning, plan for interventions, and get students more learning reps in the areas they need most.
We have also recently hired permanent and certified teachers for almost all of our remaining vacancies in middle school. We are very glad to provide students with a consistent educational experience daily and we will work hard to continue supporting both students and teachers/staff.
Finally, Fall Break is fast approaching. I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Fall Break. We will observe Fall Break October 9-13 and or front office and school will be closed. All messages left during this time will be responded to the week of October 16th. Students will be expected back on campus Monday, October 16th for the start of Quarter 2.
I am very grateful and honored to be serving as your principal. We have great kids at Hollinger and I will continue to work hard doing all that I can to provide systems and programs to help the kids of Hollinger learning and growing safely and at high levels of performance.
Work Hard. Be Kind. Live as a Champion.

Assistant Principal:
Thank you for supporting your children!
Community Liaision:
Family Corner:
My name is Sandra Ortiz. I am the new Community Liaison here at Hollinger. I wanted to let you all know that I am very excited to be able to fulfill this role. I love Hollinger and have been a parent here for over 12 years. If there is anything you need, I am the person you can come to. I am wanting to create a strong bond with my community and families. I will be helping with facilitating and having communication among families, students, teachers, administrators, school staff and the community.
A couple of exciting things we have had going on at Hollinger with great turnouts. We had met the teacher on 08/02/2023, Ice cream social on 08/17/2023, Parent Teacher conferences 09/20/2023 – 09/23/2023. We were able to hold our very first fundraiser at Peter Piper Pizza on 09/21/2023. We enjoy seeing all our families come together and have fun.
I am excited to be working with different vendors to be able to assist us in getting our family room up and running with various materials to help our families in need. Also, I will be getting our monthly Cafecitos going so we can collaborate to make Hollinger even greater. I want to let you all know that we are having our monthly site meeting the first Tuesday of the month and you are all welcome to join.
