Meet Mrs. Praytor

I'm so pleased to begin my my journey here at Cedar Ridge Middle School. I know that coming in mid-year isn't quite ideal so I wanted to tell you a little about myself so that hopefully when we meet face to face you'll feel as though you already know me!

  • I grew up in a Navy town just North of Memphis, Tn and graduated from Millington Central High School. I met my husband while attending The University of Alabama and he made me a coach's wife in the summer of 2002. Three years later we welcomed our little girl Maggie into the world and life will never be the same!

Just a few other details about ME:)

  • I've earned three degrees: Bachelor's in Psychology and Human Development from The University of Alabama, Master's in School Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University, and Education Specialist from The University of Alabama.

  • Before transferring to CRMS this year I served as the school counselor at Julian Harris Elementary School for 12 1/2 years.
  • I've also worked in many different areas with children including: mental health, special education and ultimately school counseling. I also coached for 12 years: Varsity and Middle School cheerleaders and Varsity Softball......Soooooo, I'm not easily scared. lol

  • I love football! I worked with Alabama athletics and the Paul W. Bryant Museum during my undergraduate studies. I met so many amazing people and made unbelievable memories. I met my husband through Alabama Football and our lives have pretty much been planned around the season ever since. After leaving Alabama, we moved to Tennessee for five years where he coached at Covington High School. In 2006 we returned to Bama when he accepted a position at Austin High. We've been here ever since and it feels like a second home. Currently, he is the Varsity Offensive Line Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and shares the Offensive Coordinator responsibilities. I love my Black Bears!

  • I'm from Memphis so of course BBQ is a dietary requirement for me. Memphians will find a way to BBQ any and everything! I firmly believe that if you've never had BBQ spaghetti you aren't living yet!

  • I'm a sports fanatic! St. Louis Cardinals (Yadi is my fav), Alabama, Memphis and Christian Brothers University are my favorite schools to follow.

  • I enjoy hitting the gym, hiking with my family, and visiting home as much as my schedule will allow (I'm often homesick).

  • Given time I will gladly brag on my family! My incredibly smart and talented daughter plays volleyball and basketball and has a knack of making others smile. My nephew is starting his Senior studies and baseball season at Christian Brothers University, and my niece just began her graduate studies in vocal performance (opera) at Peabody Institute-Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. They are pretty awesome:)

I hope that you will reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's education. Being a school counselor is a busy job but so very worth it!
