Paw Period Plan - Week of October 3rd

This week we will continue with the Cougar Curriculum

Lesson 6: The 3 R’s: Responsibility, Respect, the Right Thing

When students are not receiving the Cougar Curriculum they should bring something to read, study, and/or do.

The point of this week's message to students is about respect others. Students will discuss several different scenarios in small groups and come up with ways to demonstrate respect in those scenarios.

Healthy Students, Happy Students: Prevention

Head lice are a fact of life for families of school-aged children. School is only one place your child might be in contact with head lice. After school care, gymnastics, sports activities, movies, and airplanes are several opportunistic environments, just to name a few. These insects cannot hop, jump, or fly. They are easily transmitted from one another by head-to-head contact. They can be found throughout the hair, but are most often located at the nape of the neck, behind the ears, and at the crown.

What to do:
Once a week, take a peek! Every week, check for lice and nits (lice eggs). Include any adults in the home; parents can get lice, too. Don’t share. Remind your student to use their own hats, combs, and brushes. For long hair, wear your hair up in a braid or ponytail.

What to look for:
Lice are small insects about the size of a sesame seed. They are usually light brown, but can vary in color. Nits are tiny, whitish-gray oval eggs attached to the hair shaft. Visit identify.us.com for pictures.
Please report any cases to the Nurse so we can work together to minimize the spread.
