Whitharral ISD Welcomes Three New Teachers!
Mrs. Dockery
Hello everyone! My name is Mykka Dockery. This year I will be teaching kindergarten. I am very excited about this adventure! This will be my 9th year as a teacher. I am married to my best friend Jared and we have three wonderful kids Averi, Abi, and Ayden. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books, traveling, and cooking sweets. Becoming a Whitharral teacher has always been a dream of mine, I can’t wait to get started!
Mrs Gray
Hello! My name is Leigha Gray and I am excited to be the Pre-Kindergarten teacher for Whitharral ISD. My family and I moved to Whitharral last summer and have discovered what an amazing community this is. I am a graduate of Wayland Baptist University, and have worked in early childhood for over seven years. This will be my second year to teach Pre-K and I am very excited to join this outstanding school district and the team of wonderful teachers.
Coach Hughes
Name: John Keith Hughes, Coach Hughes, Coach Zilla
I was born in Fort Worth, TX and spent most of my time being a normal boy. I moved to Mansfield in 2nd grade and was already a couple of years into football, basketball, and baseball. Altogether, I played football for 13 years, basketball for 6 years, baseball for 9 years, and soccer for one year. I married my wife, Bridgette in 1992 and then joined the Air Force. I spent 6 years in the military while finishing my degree from the University of Maryland. I spent a lot of time out of State for work and hated being away from my wife and kids: Tori, Haley, and Jonathan. I started and coached many youth programs and found myself thinking about the kids, the next practice, the next game, etc. I decided that I had spent my time doing what I had to do, and now it was time to do what I wanted to do. So, 12 years ago, I made the change to become a full-time teacher and coach. I have taught every core subject at on time or another, including Math, English, Science, SS, Health, Choir (yes choir), Computers, Theater, and PE. I have also coached just about everything as well, to include: Football (11 and 6 man), Xcountry, Basketball, Track, Baseball, Golf, and Tennis. I am looking forward to this exciting step of being at Whitharral. I have already met some great people, and love the community support that truly looks unrivaled, especially in smaller districts.
