Winter/Spring Session
HOMEWORK CLUB JUST ADDED FOR FIRST - FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS (MONDAYS)
We will be offering chugim on Mondays & Wednesdays, each a 13 week session. The fee for each chug is $300 (the science chug will have an extra supplies fee of $50). We need to have a minimum of five children in order to have a chug, and we have a maximum of 15 spots for each chug.
The deadline to register for a chug is January 30th.
TRANSPORATION
CHUGIM FOR SHORASHIM, PRE-K & Kindergarten
Movement (MONDAYS)
Teacher: Michelle Siegel Nidam
Description: In this chug children will explore the art of dance and movement. They will develop both gross motor skills and coordination as they move along to music. They will explore various types of kinesthetics including dance, yoga and stretch, while having fun!
Seussville and Other Books (WEDNESDAYS)
Description: We will explore the world of Dr. Seuss and the characters in his books and other wonderful children's books. We will work with different art materials and decorations such as paint, markers, pastels and crayons to recreate all of the characters we love - to design our own book inspired art.

Science Club (MONDAYS)
Teacher: Ellen Poe
Description: The Science Chug will be an interactive one-hour science program themed around science. We know that children learn better by doing! Each week we will do a hands-on activity teaching a new science concept. We will introduce the scientific process and use it to investigate physical and earth science. The scientific lessons help engage students in observation, measurement, identification of properties, and experimentation involving life, earth and physical science concepts. All the activities are designed to help with the development of the following scientific process skills: observing, classifying, comparing, measuring, critical thinking, predicting, hypothesizing, sequencing and experimentation.
CHESS (MONDAYS)
Teacher: Anatoly Tonkonogy
Description: Anatoly comes to WTA with advanced Chess experience beginning in 2003. He has taught and still teaches as a Chess teacher and coach for the Harlem Children’s Zone, P.S 334, and P.S.110. He is a Senior Master in Chess with a rating above 2350, has been the Chess Champion of Queens, NY three times, and his students consistently achieve top place in U.S. Championships for their age divisions.
His program includes not only the chess game itself , but also many interesting brain games, allowing children from all different levels to participate in all kinds of group activities.
Netzach Dance Ensemble (MONDAYS)
Teacher: Rachel Rosin
Description: Did you come to our Chagigat Chanukah or Kabbalat HaChumash? Were you impressed by the performances? Morah Rachel has been very successful in choreographing dances for these memorable celebrations! Come join her after school to learn more moves and get some exercise too! The goal of this chug is to learn basic dance skills set to classic and contemporary Israeli songs, fusing movement and exercise in a FUN way, combined with a performance at the end of the session.
Drama (WEDNESDAYS)
Teacher: Tori Kulak
Description: It's your time to shine! Students will learn to express their creative selves through fun drama games and exercises, while also learning basic acting techniques and performance skills. We will end the session with a final performance for parents and friends.
Advanced Sports (WEDNESDAYS)
Teacher: Justin Sherman
Description: Advanced sports is held by our Physical Education Coach Justin. In this class students will play a new sport every two weeks. Classes include baseball, soccer, football, dodgeball and more! These sports will be taught with more detail and instruction than in a regular physical education class so that students understand all of the rules and components of the game. This chug will also teach students the fundamentals of how to be a good teammate, and learn how to play sports all while in a fun environment.
Game On! (WEDNESDAYS)
Teacher: Miriam Delman-HaLevi
Description: In after-school art this session we will be creating our own chess board and chess pieces out of wood and clay. This is a chance to get creative for all of our chess players out there, who will finally be able to play on a board of their own design.
