Leyden’s Plan to State Issued Tier 3 Mitigations
November 18, 2020
Good morning Leyden families,
Yesterday afternoon Governor Pritzker announced that Illinois will be moving to Tier 3 Mitigations on Friday, November 20. We know that some of you might be wondering what this means for Leyden. As mentioned in our communication on November 6 (italics below), we will continue to move forward with our response process to the mitigation tiers laid out by our Governor's office.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tier 3 Mitigation
All students attend 100% virtually
All Faculty will teach virtually (from home or the buildings)
Only limited staff report to the buildings
In-person clubs, activities, and fine arts will mirror rules and expectations for in-person athletics
Any transitions between these levels will occur on the Mondays following an announcement from the Governor’s office in order to give families and employees the ability to adjust based on the changes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Response process to Tier 3 Mitigations:
INSTRUCTION:
To ensure the wellness and safety of our school community, as aligned to the mitigation tiers, all students will continue to follow the remote learning plan while all faculty members deliver instruction virtually.
OPEN CAMPUS:
Our daily Open Campus plan will be suspended while we are in Tier 3 Mitigations. When the state, or our region returns to Tier 2 Mitigations, we will resume our Open Campus Plan so that students can sign up and come to buildings to do their remote learning.
BUILDING ACCESS:
Our buildings are open, but with limited staff on site in order to reduce the number of people in the buildings while we are in Tier 3 Mitigations.
ATHLETICS:
All winter athletic seasons have been paused. Starting today, Wednesday, November 18, there will be no in person practices or competitions. This will continue while we are in Tier 3 Mitigations. When we are able to restart our seasons, we will alert our students, coaches, and families.
CLUBS EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES :
In keeping with our response plan, our clubs, activities, and fine arts will follow our response with athletics. While we are in Tier 3 Mitigations, there will be no in-person meetings.
MEAL DISTRIBUTION :
The change in mitigation tiers will not affect our food distribution processes. We will continue to provide meals each day at both high schools and at various locations throughout the community.
Pick up days and hours:
Monday - Friday 11:00 to 12:00 at the high schools
Monday - Friday 12:00 to 1:00 from the distribution locations HERE.
If the Governor issues a formal Stay-At-Home Order, we will make additional adjustments. Thank you for your continued support. Please remember to wear your mask, practice good hygiene, and follow COVID-19 guidelines. We all play a big part in reducing the spread of the virus.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick Polyak
Superintendent
