God our Father in Heaven
May we always cherish the gifts that surround us, and share our blessings with each other.
May the Word of the Lord give us courage to preach your word through the creative means of music, dance and drama,
Lord teach us what we should do.
Let our thoughts and actions be guided by your grace, and may your spirit help us in promoting the Word of the Lord to others.

Mayor Patrick Hall Visit
Tomorrow, we welcome Mayor Patrick Hall to our school. He is coming to watch the Year One Assembly and have a tour around the classrooms and grounds. Patrick is an ex-Queenies student and I am excited to show him the changes we have made to our wonderful school.
Year 1 Assembly
Tomorrow morning at 8.50am in the hall we are looking forward to the Year One Assembly. I know Mrs Salvia and the class have been working hard and it promises to be lots of fun!
Father’s Day Breakfast and Stall
Next Friday, 1st September, to celebrate Father's Day our dads and father figures will enjoy a yummy breakfast with their children in the undercover area from 7.30am. Tomorrow is your last chance to book for this event.

Also, on this day the students will be able to buy a gift for dad at the Father’s Day Stall.
I thank our P&F for organising both the breakfast and the stall for our community. If Mother’s Day was anything to go by it should be a great morning.
Quiz Night
On Friday 20th October the P&F Quiz night is taking place in the hall beginning at 6.30pm. Events like these are fantastic for our community and really add to our sense of belonging.
Obviously, a great deal of work goes into organising an event like this and I would like to thank the P&F for the amazing job in coordinating this event so far. There are many donations and great prizes coming in. We even have a signed and framed Sam Kerr Australia jersey as one of the auction items. You certainly don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to bid on this!

Groundsperson
In staffing news, our Groundsperson, John Boley, has decided to retire at the end of this term. I would like to thank John for all his work to make sure our grounds are looking fantastic and are safe spaces for our students to play. I have worked closely with John over the last three years and he will be sorely missed.
We are currently in the process of finding a replacement for John. If you know anyone who would be interested in a job like this, please let me know.

Sacrament of Eucharist
A reminder to parents of children receiving the Sacrament of Eucharist at Queen of Apostles Parish, that there is a First Eucharist rehearsal at 9.30am in Church on Saturday 16th September.
Canteen
A friendly reminder to parents to please advise the canteen if your child has a lunch order and needs to go home early for any reason.
If the order has not been prepared, payment can be either refunded or held in credit for a lunch order on another day. If the order has already been prepared, you are welcome to come to the canteen and pick it up to take home with you.
Please note that a credit or refund cannot be offered if the canteen has not been advised.

Book Week Special Guest - Cartoonist, Gavin Aung Than
On Tuesday, 22 August, cartoonist Gavin Aung Than visited our school as part of our Children's Book Week celebrations.
Our students in Year 1 through to Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed Gavin's presentation and story sharing.

Gavin did tell the students that if they ordered via Paper Bird, he would sign any books they purchased.

Round 23 Footy Tipper of the Week
Congratulations to Mrs Brianna Joiner, our Queenies Year 4 teacher, for winning the Queenies P&F Footy Tipper of the Week for the third time. A fantastic achievement with 8 correct game predictions. With just one week left in the Footy tipping competition, stay tuned to find out the top three contenders on the ladder.
