1. Must not be false or misleading

2. Must use understandable language

3. Name the drug and company

4. At least one FDA approved use for the drug

5. Has to include most significant risk of the drug

6. Must include brief summary about the drug's use

7. must include this statement."You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA"

Effectiveness of The Rules

The rules were really effective at first, but after some time people started finding ways around the rules or found some other way to get get their drug known. Some companies on the other hand disregard the rules. These companies will eventually be brought to court and that could have a big impact on the company. their are usually 3-4 warning letters sent out by the FDA a month.
