The Office of Student Discipline and Behavioral Interventions is offering a class called:
Course Title: Trends and Techniques for Classroom Management
(Course Number: 16017)
Course Instructor: Cindy Antrim
Course Description: This course will provide an overview of student discipline trends that many classroom teachers encounter and provide specific techniques for classroom teachers to handle acts of student misconduct. Classroom teachers will learn how to establish proper classroom processes and procedures for students to alleviate potential discipline issues, how to develop and maintain positive relationships with students and parents, and how to respond appropriately to acts of student misconduct while creating a safe, positive classroom environment. The instructor will use a variety of literature to support the teachers enrolled in this course and will support GTES Performance Standard 7: Positive Learning Environment.
We will provide all materials for the class and only ask that between the two classes, you follow up with your teachers to ensure that they are implementing the strategies in their classrooms. We believe that your follow-up is the key for the success of this class.
Interested participants may register via the PD&E tab in their portal account. There will be two cohorts (select one cohort):
Cohort 1: November 11 and December 9, GIVE Center East, Media Center, 5-7 p.m. (Section Number: 22117)
Cohort 2: November 18 and December 16, Berkmar High School, Room 1.209, 5-7 p.m. (Section Number: 21882)
