Traffic Pattern for Drop Off and Pick Up
Our number one goal is the safety of all students. In an effort to keep our parking lot safe, during drop off and pick up, please be sure to turn down the last row where there are parked cars. We are asking that you DO NOT go around the last loop where the special needs buses drop off and pick up. We have seen cars going down this area, and then get frustrated because the bus is parked in a way that doesn't allow other vehicles to get through. This has caused some dangerous reactions where we have witnessed cars going around the buses on the right-hand side going up on the sidewalk. Please keep our students safe, and turn down the last row of parked cars. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent-teacher conferences are coming up at the end of the month. At this time, due to the limited amount of slots available, teachers are reaching out to parents of students that are of greatest need/concern. Next week with the newsletter, we will be sending home a conference sign up sheet to all parents to fill in the open spots. We will do our best to meet with any parents that have requested a conference, but understand that some conferences might need to be over the telephone or at a time outside of the scheduled conference dates.
Pre-Season Athletic Meeting
Any student interested in playing a winter sport, there will be a mandatory pre-season athletic meeting on Wednesday, October 19th at 6:00pm in the gym at Lakeview Junior High. The meeting will cover OHSAA and PLSD eligibility rules and regulations. If you attended the fall pre-season meeting you do not need to attend.
At 6:30pm you will have an opportunity to meet your head coach and receive information on workouts, tryout dates, and schedules. Anyone who is interested in a winter sport is welcome to attend this portion of the meeting. We look forward to seeing you on the 19th!
Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit Coming Soon
Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit (LFPT) has provided demand response, curb to curb service to the City of Pickerington and Violet Township since 2010. Over the past six years, the system has continued to see an increase in ridership for transportation. As a result of the growing demand, LFPT is excited to announce they will be piloting a new service to this area beginning Monday, October 17 th . Two new deviated-fixed routes will run continuous hourly loops throughout Pickerington and Violet Township Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. One route will run the north corridor and one will run the south corridor, meeting each hour to transfer passengers wishing to travel between corridors. The routes will be running under a pilot program for 6 months. During the pilot, the system will closely monitor usage and efficiencies. A public hearing will be held during this time with open comments to request approval of permanent service from the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Transit. The routes are available for anyone who wants to use them! The cost is $0.50 general public fare, $0.25 mobility (elderly/disabled fare), and $0.10 transfers. All you need to do is look for the posted stops indicated on the route schedules, route map, or by posted signs (at most locations). Be at the stop at least 5 minutes prior to departure. Exact fare is required, as drivers are NOT permitted to make change or you may purchase a 31-day pass ($30.00) for unlimited rides on either route. The system will allow for one deviated stop per hour for any location up to ¾ of a mile from the route; however, all deviated stops must be requested at least 24 hours in advance to ensure the route remains on time for all riders. Detailed route descriptions will be available at www.ci.lancaster.oh.us/dept/transit beginning 9/20/16 or by calling the LFPT office at 740-681-5086.
