A Message from Mr. Anderson
After a "boo-filled" October we are officially in November... and yes, it is snowing!
Thank you for an amazing "boo bash" this year and even more, an amazing first marking period of the school year!
With the first marking period done we are full swing into parent teacher conferences. Please make sure that you are reaching out to your child's teacher and continuing to build the most important relationships in your child's life: Parents and teacher! Our success comes from supporting each other for our kids!
Thank you for all you do to support our school!

A Message from Mrs. DeCamp :)
At this point in the year, teachers are gearing up to hold parent-teacher conferences with you to share how your child(ren) are progressing! This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions about what your child is learning and how they are learning it in the classroom.
While at the conference, your teacher will also be talking to you about your child's attendance in school. Attendance is one of the biggest indicators of a child's success in school because if they aren't in school, we can't teach them! As a school district, we continuously dedicate ourselves to providing a welcoming school environment for you and your children. We also pride ourselves in working together with you as a team to support your child in having a successful year including having great attendance!
Below, you will find some of our current attendance data including the following:
Yearly Attendance Percentage (October): This report shares the percent of students who were in attendance in the month of October. As you can see, 96.81% of our students were in attendance in the month of October. Also, less than 2% of our students came in late or left early.
Absence Count by Month: This graph shows the number of absences that occurred in each grade level per month.
Top Five Reasons: This pie chart shows the percent of absences that are excused vs. the percent of absences that are unexcused. It is incredibly important that you call the school or send in a note to identify why a student is absent so we can code your absences appropriately. If we do not get any notification, it is documented as unexcused.
Please feel free to contact the main office if you have any questions regarding attendance or if you would like some support in increasing your child's attendance rate. Have a great start to November!

Taking Time To Connect
We all are busy going in a million directions it seems as a parent. Parenting is hard work for anyone. We need to purposefully take time to connect one on one with our children. This can be done in various ways. You can put in your schedule a set time that is always your time with that child. It can be done weekly, biweekly or monthly. It does not get changed unless there is an emergency. This time spent can be anywhere from in your home, outside or even some place special. It can happen anytime of the day. No distractions just complete focus on them at that given moment. While you are with them, you are there to listen to whatever they have to say good or bad so that your child knows that you are there for them completely during this connection time. After this connection time is established, it will become easier for your child to be open with you regarding other situations in their lives. This will help to establish a solid connection foundation for you and your child.

We kicked off October with an awesome month. It is getting colder so please make sure your children have something warm to put on for the mornings and recess in the afternoons. If you need assistance with this, please contact me and I will be happy to help.
The BackPack Program is in full swing now, if you are enrolled you should be receiving your bags. Just to clear up any confusion, it is one bag per household this year. I will let you know if that changes. A big THANK YOU to the BackPack Bunch for all their help!
Operation Greater Joy is now beginning, if you are enrolled you should have received your paperwork. If you have not sent it back to me, please do as it is time sensitive. Also, please remember if you are receiving assistance with Christmas gifts from another program do not turn in paperwork for OGJ. This limits the amount of people we can assist over the holiday season and we want everyone to have a great experience.
The After School Program has some reminders. The times to pick up your children are 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. we ask that you do not alter these times unless it is necessary. Also, if you pick up your children at 5:00 please try to be on time, as our staff stays with the students to make sure they are safe. We are starting our Science enrichment station so your child/children may bring home the experiments they create. If you do not want the experiments to come home or have any questions about the BPP, or OGJ, please contact me at 607-527-9800 Ext. 3105. Remember if you work hard and be kind, amazing things will happen, pass it on!
