St. Pius X School Bulletin
Mrs. McCoy's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Parent/Teacher conferences are this week. If you did not get your appointment time, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher. As a reminder, I try to sit in on as many conferences as I can so please don’t be alarmed if I am there. It is just another way for me to be informed about our students. On that note, if you would like to request my presence at a conference, please let me know and I will do my best to be there. As a reminder, we have a 1:00 dismissal on Thursday and no school on Friday.
Good luck to our middle school basketball teams! This Friday they travel to OKC for the yearly tournament.
Last week I received an update on the Parental Choice Tax Credit. Below is the newest information:
The priority period is over for those with an income of $150,000 or less. There are still funds available for the higher income brackets.
The OTC will be sending the checks out in small batches. You should get notified when yours is mailed.
The OTC split the spring 2024 and fall 2024 amounts exactly in half, which is not correct (since the fall tuition is higher). That will entail making adjustments.
We will apply the anticipated credit to the spring tuition balance. If spring tuition has already been paid, we will issue a refund. The diocese has instructed us to apply any spring overage to the fall semester.
If a parent has applied for, and been accepted to multiple schools, the OTC will send the checks to the first school that was submitted to the OTC via application.
Please keep in mind that unpaid taxes, unpaid child support and unpaid alimony will be taken from these checks. We will not have this information so we will be unable to answer any questions if your balance is different than expected.
We believe that the OTC has chosen to divide the checks of 8th grade students in half as well. That means that parents may only receive ¼ of the anticipated credit this spring. The other ¼ will come to the school in the fall and the remaining half will go to the high school of choice.
This week’s Mass is on Wednesday, February 28th at 8:30. Please join us! You are also welcome to join us at Stations of the Cross at 1:30 on that date. Stations will then be followed by a Pep Assembly in the gym, which you are also invited to!
Why do we do the Stations of the Cross during Lent?
The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross, provide us with an opportunity to reflect on Jesus' death and the sacrifice He made for us. Practiced for over 1000 years, praying the Stations of the Cross is a popular devotion practiced by Catholics during Lent
Have a wonderful week!

Security Fence Update!
If you haven't noticed, Owasso Fence Company has begun preparations for our state-of-the-art security fence around our beautiful campus! We are very grateful to Bishop David Konderla and the Diocese of Tulsa for their financial assistance in defraying the cost of the fence. Through their generosity we have been able to begin construction of the fence sooner than expected. We are now looking to a successful Auction to help us raise the remaining funds to complete the fence project.
We want to take this opportunity to thank our Auction Chair - Kat Knapp, the Diocese of Tulsa, and our outstanding community for helping us towards our goal of creating a joyful, safe, and secure place for our students to learn and grow! We are overwhelmed with your generosity.
As this project progresses, we will be sure to keep our community informed. It’s a great day to be a Defender!
