The Battle of Fort Sumter
Fort Sumter was attacked by the Confederate army during the Civil war!!! They did it because they wanted slavery. Fort Sumter hid the Union soldiors and their weapons. It was on water so the Confederacy attacked on a boat. It was built in 1829. It was was named after Thomas Sumter. A man named Pickens told the defender, Robert Anderson, to surrender, but he said no. The Confederacy bombed Fort Sumter, and two Union soldiers died. The battle was won by the Confederates.
Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman was a conductor on the Underground Railroad.The north thought that slavery was wrong and the south thought it was right, so harriet escaped to the north with other slaves. Harriet was a South Carolina nurse, spy, and played an important part in a raid freeing 700 slaves. Harriet Tubman never got caught.
