FEBRUARY PARENT NEWSLETTER 2022

HAPPY FEBRUARY ROCKETS

Dear Rayburn Parents and Guardians,

On February 3rd we will celebrate our 100th day of school!! This year has been going by so quickly but we have had a great one thus far. Our Rockets have been working so hard and have been so dedicated to their learning. This month, our campus will be celebrating Kindness Week! We will focus each day on spreading acts of kindness at school and home. At Rayburn Elementary we strongly believe it is important to educate your child both academically as well as social/emotionally. In McAllen ISD we educate our students on Emotional Intelligence to empower them for greatness!

We have concluded our MidYear literacy assessments and benchmarks and I am proud to say that our students have been showing great progress! Teachers and interventionists are targeting reading groups throughout the week to focus on specific skills students need.

I thank you for your continued support in encouraging your child to read daily. AR points are on the rise as well, and we have some Kinder students already AR reading and testing!! Third-Fifth grade teachers are providing targeted instruction to prepare students for the STAAR exam. Please support our efforts by ensuring your child is at school each day so that they benefit from all that we have planned for them.

I encourage you to set up a conference with your child’s teacher to review your child’s academic progress so that you are well informed of their progress.

Registration is now open for the 2022-2023 school year! Please take time to register and secure your spot for next year. Rayburn has been selected to host the Universal PreK program and we already have many students registered. If you know someone who is interested in enrolling thier 4 year old please encourage them to call us for more information.

As always, we will continue to do all we can to assist in your child’s success!

Thank you,

Mrs. Clarissa Partida

Rayburn Elementary Principal

Kids Heart Challenge!!

Hello Rayburn Elementary Families,

We have officially kicked off the Kids Heart Challenge Road Trip with the American Heart Association, and we need your help! Over the next 4 weeks students will be learning about their heart, raising awareness and funds for the American Heart Association. Our school's goal is to raise $4000 in donations and for every student to complete Finn's Mission.

The Road Trip started today with your student(s) watching this video at school.

PARENTS – HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED

Step 1. Visit our school’s Kids Heart Challenge page: Rayburn KHC Webpage OR download the Kids Heart Challenge App for iPhone or Android to search for our school and sign up!

Step 2. Complete Finn’s Mission – this will be your road map!

Your student will collect souvenirs along the way, including their own Heart Heroes and more. You can check these out on the KHC envelope your student is bringing home today.
