News From 1150 Vestavia Circle
Our school is so fortunate to receive support from our community. Tuscaloosa County Commissioner, Mr. Stan Acker, donated mulch for our playground a few weeks ago. Parents and students volunteered and spread the mulch. It looks so much better! We would also like to thank Northport mayor, Mr. Bobby Herndon, for donating $500.00 to FVES. These funds will be used to purchase supplies our learners need. Thank you, to all the families that participated in our 'School Spirit Night' at Chick-fil-A Northport. We will receive a percentage of the proceeds from last night. We appreciate all the support!
We are asking each parent to send $25.00 per child for our classroom. Teachers use these donation funds to purchase items such as copy paper, ink for their printers, supplies and subscriptions for student learning materials (Time Magazine for Kids, Scholastic News, etc.).
Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher if you would like to have a parent-teacher conference. We offer conferences face-to-face or over the phone. You may send a note, email them, or call the school (205-342-2646) to schedule a conference. We want to share the information regarding your child's progress with you.
School attendance is critical to student success! Did you know that students are considered chronic absentees if they miss 6 or more days (non COVID related)? Student achievement is linked to attendance. Students miss so much when they are not here! Parents have two days after an absence to provide a parent/doctor's excuse. We ask that you plan trips/vacations during holidays.
- October 20th we will observe "Unity Day" by wearing green because we stand together against bullying.
- We will observe Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 27-29) with the following spirit days:

October 28 "Give drugs the boot." Wear Western wear.

Friday, October 29th is our Wildcat Night at the Tuscaloosa County High Football Game.
