Coker Cubs Weekly News

Coker Mission--Every Child, Every Day

We support and foster a positive community of successful, life-long learners and leaders by meeting the needs of every individual while challenging each one to reach full potential.

Coker Fair

PTA still has plenty of volunteer spots available for the remaining 18 certified staff members to sign up for on the Teacher Fair Sign-Up or the regular Fair Sign Up. Please notify me ASAP if you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from serving at this year's event.

State of the Campus-feedback needed

As we enter the home stretch towards the completion of the 2011 Bond program at Coker there are two things that I need feedback from you (if applicable) n regards to the state of our campus.

  1. All staff occupying space in a new or remodeling classroom or office: Please take time to create a punch item list of incomplete, missing, broken, non-functioning items that need to be addressed before it is determined that the scope of work is 100% complete. You may submit your punch list items by accessing the Google Form State of the Campus. Please submit your entry no later than 3:00 PM October 23rd.

  2. Second and Fifth grade classroom teachers: Currently we have one extra classroom set of the new furniture available to be used by our older students within the vintage building. If you would like your name to be entered in a random drawing to receive this classroom set to replace your existing furniture, please send me an email by 3:00 PM Friday, October 16th.

  3. All staff: Please let me know if you are in need of a locking filing cabinet. We have a few remaining cabinets available and are ready to distribute to some that are in need.

2015-2016 Substitute List

Thank you to the structure and organization Christina Guillet employed to revamp the Substitute List to be more user friendly. Please note the tabs within the Excel Workbook (Certified-Mono, Certified-Dual, Instructional Assistants, Non-Instructional Assistants).

You will find the updated list on the staff shared/administration/2015-2016 Substitute List.

School Board Recognition

School Board Recognition Month is in January, and we need your help to show our amazing Board of Trustees how much we appreciate what they do for this District. Students may write thank you notes to the seven school board members. Please send them in the pony to Marie King, RAMEC, Superintendent’s Office. Notes of appreciation will be shared with them at the January board meeting.

SCE-ED Tutoring

The SCE-ED Tutoring plan for this school year has been approved by School Improvement and Curriculum Compliance and has been added to our CIIP.

Targeted Area: Math, Reading, and Writing

Performance Objective:

Ensure success of at-risk students, including English Language Learners, by providing targeted small group intervention through the SCE-ED Program.

Students will participate in the SCE-ED program during school and during extended day tutoring before and/or after school.

Evaluation Indicators:

A minimum of 80% of at-risk students will reach or exceed Phase 2 of the STAAR assessments (3rd-5th grades).

A minimum of 80% of students will reach or exceed grade level on iStation and AMC assessments. (Kinder-2nd grades)

Cost: SCE funds not to exceed $10,393

We will discuss the specific details of the additional support for grade level intervention soon.

Halloween

Since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, some students may want to wear their costumes to school on Friday. As a reminder, in the Dress Code section of Elementary and Secondary Handbooks, it states, “Costumes of any type are prohibited.” Please stress to your students that costumes are not permitted on campus to celebrate Halloween.
