An earthquake is an sudden and violent shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great destruction, as a result of movements with the earths crust or volcanic action. Here are some tips to survive an earthquake. First have a readiness plan to read. Then consult a professional to learn how to make your home sturdier, such as bolting bookcases to wall studs, installing strong latches on cupboards, and strapping the water heater to wall studs. After locate a place in your house were you and your family can meet. If shaking begins drop down take cover under a desk or table and hold on. Stay indoors until the shaking stops and it is safe to exit. If you are outdoors, find a clear spot away from buildings,trees, and power lines. drop to the ground. If you are in a car, slow down and drive to a clear place. Stay in the car until the shaking stops.
Supplies
Also keep a supply of canned food, an up-to-date first aid kit, 3 gallons of water per person, dust mask and googles, and a working battery-operated radio and flashlights and pocket knife.
Safety Plan
If there is an earthquake everybody will need a plan. An example of a plan is to first get under something sturdy then when the earthquake stops get your bag of supplies and meet outside.
