The Hoot Owl

MARCH 2022

PRINCIPAL NOTES

March is upon us. Spring Break is right around the corner. When we return from Spring Break, the end of the year sneaks upon us quicker than expected.

March Madness - We are doing a March Madness competition based upon attendance. Our attendance has been down this year and we are going to do a push to raise it back up for the last 3 months of the year. Please help your child's class by having your child at school every day, unless they are sick. We know that attendance has a major impact on learning and if students are not physically present at school, they cannot learn.

We look forward to seeing this challenge take off and increase excitement about coming to school daily!

TOP TOPICS

*March 5 - Sci://Tech @ Lone Star College

*March 11 - Student holiday

*March 14 - 18 - Spring Break

*March 21 - Students return to school

IMPORTANT NOTES:

*School attendance is important for learning. Students should be at school daily unless they are sick.

*Doors open at 7:35 with school starting at 8:00 a.m. Tardies begin at 8:01 am. Please help us reduce tardies this semester by making it a goal to be at school on time.

*Dismissal begins at 3:10 p.m.

*Change of transportation call ins are for emergencies only and must be called in by 2:30 p.m.

*Early pick up ends at 2:45. If you arrive after 2:45 you will need to join the car rider line.

*Coming off the I-45 feeder, car rider line starts on Oak Ridge School Road. If you enter our driveway, the right turn lane will be blocked forcing you to turn left and find the end of the line.

*Parents may not park and walk students to the building in the morning nor to pick them up in the afternoon.

*Please have your car rider sign visible in the line. If you need another sign, please call the front office and request one.

Big picture

NOW HIRING

Conroe ISD is currently hiring bus drivers and custodial personnel. If you are interested or know someone who is, please share the flyer below with them.

LUNCH VISITORS:

Lunch visitors are now welcome back on campus through our reservation system. Due to space limitations, just a reminder that our tables are set up outside on the exit to our large playground. Parents will greet their student in the cafeteria and then go outside to eat. If the weather is too cold or raining, we will cancel for the day. You will be notified of the cancellation through email so if it is raining or extremely cold on your day, please monitor your email.

Register at the link on our webpage here.

ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES

Our attendance has been hovering about 93% and our goal for the year is 96%. Unless your child is ill, it is important for them to be here at school, on time and stay all day long.

Tardies - We begin counting tardies at 8:01 a.m. We do, however, monitor the line. We take note of the last car in line at 8:01 and all cars after that, the students are counted tardy. Currently, we have a much shorter line between 7:45 - 7:55. If you consistently arrive about 7:55, try adjusting your morning schedule by about 10 minutes, you will not have to wait in line to drop off your child. Student drop off and pick up is the line closes to the building. Do not drop off or pick up on the other side the covered drive as it is unsafe for everyone involved.
