REMINDERS AND UPDATES
ONE BOOK ONE SCHOOL
For the second year, the Meadow Wood Elementary Community of students, staff and parents is invited to participate in the One School One Book reading event. The purpose of this exciting event is to encourage families and classes to read and talk about a book and to interact with the book in a variety of ways.
Our 2016 book has been chosen and each student and staff member will receive a free copy of the book on Friday, October 7.
We will begin giving clues about the book on Tuesday, October 4 and the big reveal will be on Friday, October 7! We encourage families to read the book aloud and we will all read 5 chapters per week for 6 weeks. Questions and activities will be provided to teachers by Mrs. Robbins each week.
The event will end on November 18 and we will celebrate with a culminating event afterwards.
If you have questions, please visit Mrs. Robbins in the library.
SBISD Volunteers - October 1st
All volunteers must register and gain approval before starting volunteer service each year. If you were approved to volunteer during the 15-16 school year, your status is valid until Saturday, October 1, 2016. After that point, all returning volunteers need to be re-registered and gain approval for the 2016-2017 school year.
You may access the volunteer application below.
National Custodian Day - October 2
National Custodial Worker’s Recognition Day is observed annually on October 2nd. This is a day set aside to show appreciation to custodial workers across the nation.
Each department and school in Spring Branch School District relies heavily on each of our custodians to keep our campuses and classrooms looking pristine, and to create an enjoyable learning environment for students, staff, and parents.
Custodial workers work behind the scenes and work hard at what they do day after day keeping schools, offices, gyms, cafeterias, hallways, etc.
Please join us in celebrating our custodians by dropping them a note to let them know how much we appreciate them.
Our MWE Custodians are
Angelica Limon (foreman)
Lucia Tovar
Felipa Gama
