Miles of Smiles

We are excited to announce that Miles of Smiles Portable Dental Program has returned to Union Chapel! Miles of Smiles is a full service portable dental program that provides free dental care to children in the Northland who are in need of this service. UC students may participate if their families qualify for this program based on income guidelines. Dr. Nina Patel and her dental assistants will provide qualifying students with dental exams and cleanings. Dr. Patel will send home reports to parents/guardians to identify any additional dental work that students may need. The dental treatment might include extractions, fillings and application of sealants and will be completed on site at UC during the school day.

If you are interested in registering your child for this service, please click here and complete the attached registration form. Return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If you have any questions or need assistance completing the registration form, please contact UC’s school social worker, Cheryl Gunn Seidler, at 359-6140.

Rock Star Buses

We know we have wonderful students here at UC. Sometimes, it's hard for students to remember to Own Our Actions, Respond Respectfully & Stay Safe while on the bus to and from school. In order to promote these Gator Expectations on the bus, we've begun recognizing a "Rock Star Bus of the Day" each morning. We check with the driver of whatever bus number is drawn at random. If the driver reports the students had an awesome ride home the afternoon before or that morning (whichever one is asked), then students from that bus get to line up first to go to class, and each student on that bus receives a Gator Gold ticket for helping support a positive bus ride.

In November, all nine of our buses were recognized at some point . . . and some buses were recognized more than once.

Thank you to our amazing students for promoting a safe ride to and from school each day by remembering that our Gator Pledge applies . . . even on the bus!

A reminder from Miss Haney

Art portfolios will be sent home at the end of the year after art showcases are complete.

We are also performing at Crown Center Thursday, December 8th @ 7:15 PM in the food court area. Join us as we sing and celebrate the season!

Look at our amazing third graders at UC! They had a wonderful experience at KC Ballet’s, The Nutcracker. It is such a wonderful holiday tradition. UC third graders learned about the story, the characters, and the music over the past three weeks while attending music class. The KC Ballet’s Education director presented a workshop at UC prior to the performance. She brought in costumes, shoes, and other items and talked about The Nutcracker story. Two ballet dancers even came to UC and showed us some ballet steps. It has truly been a magical experience! Thank you, PTA, for your continued support!
