Mr. Huelsman's Science Class

Weekly Update 02/01/16

Good Monday Morning

I hope everyone had a restful and fun weekend. This week in science class we are continuing the Body Works unit. Last week we talked about the respiratory and musculoskeletal systems. This week we are concentrating on the circulatory system. There will be a quiz this week and students can expect the Body Works end of unit test to be at the end of next week.

It is hard to believe that we are already in the month of February. Toward the end of the month, we will be finishing the second trimester and be two-thirds of the way through the school year. There are several students who have missing assignments and not completing the weekly study logs. This is really dragging down their grades and they have only a few week left to get them up. If you have any questions about your son/daughter's grade, please feel free to email me. Thank you so much for your help and support!

On Wednesday students will have another quiz in the Body Works unit. This quiz will cover the respiratory, musculoskeletal, and circulatory systems.

On Tuesday, students will receive a study guide they can complete to use while taking the quiz on Wednesday. Students will be given half the class period on Tuesday to complete.

I am currently working with eighth-grade science teacher Cindy Kettlewell (Science Dept. Chair) in getting together the forms for Glen Helen. They will be passed out to students in the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience.

Human Body 3D Model Extra Credit Project

Last week I introduced this project to students. They can earn up to 20 extra credit/bonus points for this trimester by completing a 3D model of the human body. Students need to pick up an assignment/rubric sheet from me for the requirements. Project is due 02/24/16.

Mr. Huelsman's Science Class on Facebook

Several months ago I created a Facebook page for my classroom. As students work on and complete various labs in the classroom, I take pictures and post these on Facebook for parents to view what their son/daughter is doing in the science classroom.

If you were not aware of this, all you have to do is search "Mr. Huelsman's Classroom" and like the page to be able to view the posted pictures and videos.
