A Peek At Our Week
Science- We just wrapped up "Three States of Matter" and are moving into Physical and Chemical Changes as well as Mixtures and Solutions. Your child will participate in many engaging activities throughout this unit. Please make sure your student is studying his or her notes daily as part of homework (Monday-Thursday). I recommend 10-15 minutes. Just a quick review.
Social Studies- We have been studying Reconstruction and the Amendments, specifically the 13th, 14th, and, 15th. Your student has a SS journal where he or she has been recording notes from classroom discussions. As with Science, please have your student study the material daily. We will test the plans that went along with Reconstruction and the Amendments on Thursday, September 3rd.
Math- We have been studying Perimeter, Area, and Volume during our Math block. We will test on Wednesday, September 2nd. Next up, multi-digit multiplication! Please have your student practice their basic 0-12 facts. We have been working on these in class. I have flashcards if you would like to borrow them. I also can suggest fun ways to study these facts, so please reach out if you are interested.
ELA- Guided reading groups are underway and Narrative Writing has started!
Spelling-Each week your student will be administered a spelling test. The words the students spelled incorrectly will be retested on Thursday. Throughout the week your child it to complete nightly assignments for missed words only. The homework assignments are listed below. I will change up the listed requirements next 9 weeks.

Tuesday-Use the word in a sentence
Wednesday-Define the word
Thursday-Re-administer Test
