Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year kicked off with the new moon on Feb. 1 and culminating in the Lantern Festival on Feb. 15. This Lunar New Year ushers in the Year of the Water Tiger.
Wishing you a prosperous new year!
FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH
The Black Student Union on campus was created to provide a safe space for minority students, and to showcase black excellence through mindful discussions and educational seminars.
Since Black History Month is around the corner, we want to highlight the black community and celebrate black culture with our peers at RBHS. As a club, February is the most important month for us, and it takes lots of preparation to think of and create new and present ideas to make sure the conversations about black culture do not stop, and that the numerous historical figures who fought for our rights are not forgotten.
Every year the BSU posts a powerful black individual daily during February to feature the people that have done so much for us, many of them rarely known. Our main goal as a club is to focus on the victories, the success, and the excellence that flows through the black community, we want to create an understanding that with all of the hardships that black people go through they continue to overcome them, and they continue to break the narratives that society has laid out for them.
Our club has planned an event on February 16th during lunch to celebrate black musicians, and give our peers a chance to test their knowledge on different genres of music, different cultural songs, and see how impactful black musicians are in the music industry! The library will have a display set up to highlight black literature, stories, and black authors, so be sure to stop by and check it out!
