The Principal's Pick
The most wonderful time of the day... The Principal's Pick is back and I am excited to share a fantastic story about technology and friendship.
"When Popcorn, the friendliest chicken at Fiddlesticks Farm, finds a forgotten smartphone in the barn, she sets about making some brand new friends. Soon she is so busy sending messages to them that she begins to forget her old friends. When a meet-up with her new friends is about to end in disaster, the quick-thinking animals of Fiddlesticks Farm save the day ... and one relieved chicken learns a lesson."--
I can't wait to bring this story to the kids this month!
In Christ,
Mrs. Tracy Melnyk, Principal
Emergency / Medical Forms
Medication will only be accepted with fully completed forms. EpiPens – Capital Health recommends that children who have severe allergies and require an EpiPen carry these EpiPens with them at all times. Many children carry an EpiPen with them in a “fanny pack”. We would like to see all children carry their EpiPens with them; however, some parents prefer that the EpiPens be stored in the office area. If your child will not carry his/her EpiPen, we ask that you provide two EpiPens: one for the office and one for the classroom. If you are only supplying one EpiPen, please submit a letter indicating this and where it will be stored. Students may carry their inhalers in their backpacks or store in the office.
Student Forms & Fees due on PowerSchool
Also found on your child's PowerSchool account, under the "Forms and Fees" tab, are many of the consent forms that have been sent out on paper in the past. These forms include the annual field trip consent form which needs to be completed before your child will be allowed to participate in any off-site school activities. Please complete these forms as soon as possible as we have many classes who have field trips planned in the upcoming weeks! Please see our school website for further instructions.

Healthy Celebrations - Administrative Procedure (AP) on Healthy Food Choices at School
EICS is committed to creating and supporting school environments that promote wellness and encourage healthy eating for all members of the school communities including staff, students and their families. A new AP has been devised to assist us in adhering to this plan. Parents, while we understand celebrations such as birthdays, Halloween, etc... are fantastic excuses for us to indulge a bit, we kindly ask that you help us in supporting this initiative. Instead of cupcakes for birthdays, feel free to send in a fruit tray or a book for the class library instead. Teachers will also communicate this in their classroom news and offer you better ways to celebrate in their individual classrooms. Feel free to peruse the AP by clicking the link:
New Changes for Hot Lunch
The Hot Lunch program will be starting up soon, please watch for a notice in a back pack near you! This year we will ONLY be accepting payments for up to 4 weeks from the order date. Payments can be made online through PayPal ( you do not need to set up an account to pay by credit card), cheque or cash. PLEASE NOTE **Payments will NOT be accepted after the deadline and unpaid lunches will NOT be ordered. Thank you for your cooperation.

We also would like to ask parents to kindly wait outside at the doors for your children to be dismissed. Our halls are far too congested to have and extra 100 people roaming the halls at the end of the day. Once again, we thank you for your cooperation.
