A NOTE FROM MRS. RAWLINS
Dear Sloan Creek Families,
Lovejoy 🐆 TEAM SPIRIT 🐆 was in the air this week at the creek! Thank you to our students and staff for participating in spirit "dress up" days. We hope to see you at the Homecoming football game this Friday evening, September 22. Please remind students that they are to remain in the stands during the game. LOUD CHEERING for LOVEJOY LEOPARDS is encouraged! ROLL PARDS! ❤️🐆

Next week will be yet another exciting week at the creek! As usual, this newsletter is packed with important information. Your partnership and involvement mean the world to us, so please take a few moments to scroll through and stay informed!

WHAT ARE WE LEARNING?
RESTROOM CONCERNS
We are experiencing an increase in unmet behavior expectations in Student Restrooms. Some negative behaviors include: tampering with soap dispensers, wet paper towels on walls/floors, and gathering in restrooms to socialize. Our dear custodian, Mr. Jose, works incredibly hard to keep our restrooms clean. Please take a moment to review RESTROOM PRIDE with your students at home. Thank you for your partnership in making "The Creek" safe and clean.
RED LEOPARD TICKETS
REWARDING POSITIVE STUDENT BEHAVIOR
- We started something fun this week! Teachers and staff are giving out red tickets to students 'caught' following one of our PRIDE expectations.
- Each Friday we will draw 10 tickets from each grade level on morning announcements. Those students will visit the LEOPARD STORE to choose a prize!

PEANUT BUTTER DRIVE
HOUSE BILL 114
There has been a significant change in the law that directly impacts our school district’s approach to addressing e-cigarette usage on school premises. Recently, the Texas legislature passed a new law, House Bill 114, that requires school districts to implement mandatory Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) placement for students found in possession of, using, selling, giving, or delivering e-cigarettes on school grounds or at a school-related event.
Effective September 1, our school district will be enforcing this new state law, and any student violating the new law related to e-cigarettes will be subject to a DAEP placement. Our primary goal is to ensure the well-being and academic success of all students. By enforcing the DAEP placement for e-cigarette violations, this law aims to discourage the use of harmful substances and create a safer environment that supports the overall health and development of our students.
As we navigate this new legal requirement, we value your partnership and input as parents and guardians. If you need assistance in talking to your child about the dangers of vaping, or your child is in need of support to quit vaping, the linked resources provided by the Anti-Vaping Truth Initiative are available.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to create a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.

DISTRICT UPDATES
The Lovejoy Green Team implemented a new recycling program on Sept 8th at Leopard Stadium. There are an estimated 4000 bottles at every varsity home football game that have been going to the landfill but they can be recycled. Please only recycle BOTTLES and CANS in blue recycle bins.
The Lovejoy Green Team receives no funding from Lovejoy ISD and we need your help to buy bins for Lovejoy fields, courts and gyms. Please consider donating to sponsor-a-bin or donate towards the purchase of a bin. 100% of donations directly support Green Team programs and your donation is tax deductible.
