Week of October 18th, 2021

Principal's Message

Herrick Families,

I want to congratulate our Girls Volleyball teams for their win this week! With that win they are moving on to the Championship game next Wednesday! Thank you to all of our student athletes and to Coach Konny and Coach O'Kelly for all your work this season! I also wanted to share that in the next two weeks we will be conducting our law enforcement drill with the Downers Grove Police Department. More communication regarding that will be in the Spartan Chronicle next week.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS & SPARTAN CHRONICLE: We have now put all the daily announcements on the website as well as the Spartan Chronicle for the week. You can find this information under the FAMILIES tab. You should see "I want to..." - View this week's newsletter as well as view today's announcements.

VOLUNTARY COVID TESTING SIGN-UP (Repeat Item): District 58 encourages families to consider signing up for free PCR COVID-19 testing for District 58 students. Registration for this optional testing program is open and our program is actively underway.

Families can select from any or all of three types of testing services including:

  1. Weekly screening testing (routine testing)

  2. Symptomatic testing (testing when a student or staff member develops symptoms at school)

  3. Test-to-Stay (testing for situations in which a student has been identified as a close contact)

Test-to-Stay, an IDPH-endorsed process that allows a close contact to remain in school with regular antigen testing, will begin next week. Please see the district communication regarding the IDPH's guidance regarding when Test-to-Stay can be implemented in schools.

In the event that you need a message delivered to a student, you are able to email them or call the office and we will deliver the message during 1st period, lunch time, or prior to student dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.
