As part of our 2nd Grade Geography Unit, students researched, wrote informative paragraphs and created 3D landforms!

THIRD GRADE

The third grade had an assembly today called the " Rocks and Mineral Show." This was presented by Mike and Roberta Straka, two paleontologists. They explained how rocks are formed, the three types of rocks and how geologist identify rocks. The presentation featured " Mr. Nixon" an eight foot Triceratops skull discovered by their team in 1996. Students had a chance to dig for dinosaur fossils, shark teeth, minerals and petrified wood. They also took home a souvenir, which was a piece of yellow calcite. This was a fun culmination to our rocks and minerals unit in science.
