What does it look like?
Why is it important for kids?
To be a successful student or responsible citizen, you have to be able to process media that is presented to you. In our current culture, people communicate using all sorts of media platforms, and the ability to form your own thoughts and opinions has never been more important.
What does it look like in the classroom?
Media Literacy is no longer separable from education. In the classroom, educators should take different forms of media and teach the aesthetic aspects to help students interpret different types of communication.
How do we assess these skills?
Start with a framework that allows students to analyze any sort of media as to usefulness and importance. Can they create their own within that framework?
