Miss Amy and Miss Courtney's Preschool Classroom
This Week
This week puzzles, coloring, shell collections, and small connecting beads were a hit! The kids loved doing both small and floor puzzles. They really worked together even when some of them were "too hard". All the kids drew a picture of themselves for us. Remember this is a developmental preschool class, so expectations vary child to child! We were sooooo impressed by these guys! They all tried and did such a good job! We use collections to see how the kids classify items and how they describe items. Again, we were so impressed by some of the vocabulary and even more so just by the physical classifications they made! The small connecting beads were used in so many ways. Some kids measured feet, tables and the hall way. Some friends made patterns, while others just liked to drag the beads around the classroom! Our introduction to choice time really was greater than we ever expected!
During circle time we are singing songs, saying hello to our friends, and saying the pledge of allegiance. We look at the "group plan" everyday and see what to expect! The visual schedule is so helpful for so many of our friends.
After circle we have been doing Name Crafts! We have spent the whole week learning the first letter in our name, and doing a bunch of crafts so we can better recognize names. We are excited to see the progress our kiddos make each year in this academic area. First step is recognizing their name, then identifying the letters in the name, and eventually writing the whole name! We know you will all be so impressed!
We have enjoyed time on the playground and playing in all the centers, blocks, kitchen, playdoh, sand and beans, etc.
We can truly say we have never experienced a more exciting, easy-going and fun first week of school! These kids are going to a blast to have this year and we are so, SO excited to see the progress they all make! Thank you for sharing your little ones with us each day!
