REMINDER-THE K-5 SPRING CONCERT IS COMING UP! MARK YOUR CALENDARS
As we get further into spring, we wanted to remind you about the concert events for grades 1, 3, and 5 at the Saber Center this year. By offering this event, we hope to present a larger scope for families so they can experience the progress and growth across the grade levels. Therefore, grades K, 2, and 4 will not have a spring concert event this year.
Please mark your calendars for the following event later this spring:
BF Wednesday, April 27 - Grades 1, 3, 5 @ 6:30 pm at the Saber Center
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
April is an exciting month for us at Ben Franklin! The signs of spring are slowly showing up-bringing us hope that nicer weather including sunshine are right around the corner! Below are two important pieces of information related to the weather and the Forward Exam. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding either topic!
Tornado Awareness Week
Drills are the best way for everyone to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Like fire drills, tornado drills prepare us for what to do in the event of dangerous weather. This week is tornado awareness week. Thursday, Ben Franklin will participate in the statewide tornado drill. A letter will be sent home on Thursday afternoon outlining information about the drill. This is also a great time for families to talk and plan what to do in the face of weather events.
Forward Exam
Last week our 4th grade students began to take the Forward Exam and this week, 3rd and 5th grade students will participate. Helping your child to be prepared to take the exam would include getting a good night’s sleep, offering breakfast and of course, keeping a positive attitude. We want our children to do their best even when presented with challenging material, and with your support this will create the conditions for success!
Have a fantastic week!
Mary Shannon
Ben Franklin Principal

BOOK FAIR - THANK YOU
Dear Parents and Families,
I’m sending my sincere gratitude for making our Book Fair an outstanding success!
Thanks to your contributions, we sold 970 books at our Fair. We raised over $5,000 SCHOLASTIC DOLLARS for our school, which we’ll use to replace damaged books in classrooms and the library. We also collected more than $80 for All for Books™, a program turning Book Fair donations into books for children who cannot afford them.
My reward for hosting a Book Fair is watching your kids discover new books. All that joy wouldn’t be possible without volunteers from our school community – you deserve my special thanks!
If your child missed out on the Fair (or already finished every new book), there’s still time to shop! You can continue to shop the Scholastic Online Store and our school will receive 2% on every purchase all year long! I hope to see you and your child at our next Fair. Until then, happy reading!
Gratefully,
Nicole Stuebner
BF PTO Book Fair Chairperson
