Excellence Happens Here

Penn High School is once again proud to learn that Penn seniors have been chosen to receive the prestigious Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship! The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County announced today (Friday, Dec. 9, 2022) the names of four students who have been offered the 2023 scholarship, and two of the four student recipients are Penn students! Zichu Wang and Allison Yu are both former Northpoint Elementary and Discovery Middle students. Congratulations to these amazing students, their families, and all of the P-H-M teachers and staff that have contributed to their education! Click to learn more about Zichu Wang and Allison Yu.

In St. Joseph County since the Community Foundation began administering the Lilly Scholarship in 1998, 33 Penn Scholars have been named accounting for 25% of the total number of Scholars! Last year Penn had four Penn seniors named Lilly Scholars.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are chosen based on community involvement, academic achievement, character, and leadership. The scholarship provides for full tuition, fees, and books for four years, full-time, undergraduate study at any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university.

Big picture

Holiday Food Drive - Keep it Up!

It’s time for our community food drive! This year, Elsie Rogers has partnered with Northeast Neighborhood Food Pantry to serve those in need! We will be collecting non perishable food items (no glass containers please) starting on December 5th up until December 15th. To make it a little more interesting, classes will be competing for participation in some "Reindeer Games" and a hot cocoa bar experience on December 16! We can’t wait to see our R.O.C.K. star students in action!

Currently Mrs. Fox's class is in the lead with 3 classes in a tight race for second: Miss Feller, Mrs. Mauro and Miss Marine. We have 4 days of collecting left. It is anyone's game!

eLearning Days for Penn-Harris-Madison

As part of the new Indiana law HB-1093, schools are limited to three days of eLearning. Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation will use, if warranted, three weather related days as needed throughout the year. If additional makeup days are required, they will be added to the end of the school year calendar beginning on June 2. Principals will communicate with parents eLearning expectations and possible calendar adjustments throughout the year.

Free Meals and Textbook Assistance

Your family may be eligible for assistance paying for cafeteria meals and school fees.

Households that meet the financial guidelines of the National School Lunch Program are eligible for free or reduced meal prices, as well as a discount applied to textbook rental fees. To receive this support parents must apply annually and provide information that serves to verify household income. The application is easy to fill out (choose online or paper format) and it includes a place to indicate that you also want to apply for textbook assistance. Please make sure to submit only one form (application) per household, even if the children are in different schools.

(Applications for the 2022-23 school year will be accepted beginning July 1st, 2022)

We encourage ALL Elsie Rogers parents to apply online at this website: www.schoolcafe.com.

Applying online is faster and easier than using printed forms, and your benefits will start sooner!
